    Description

We are a small, relaxed hostel, located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada in the beautiful town of Palomino. We are a surfing and yogi couple (Aussie & Colombian) and we live in the hostel with our pets, two lovely big dogs and a cat. The Sierra Nevada of Palomino where we live is an untouched wilderness where the indigenous people, kogis, have lived undisturbed by the modern world. We have a beautiful view of the snowy mountains of the Sierra Nevada in the mornings and there are walks to the forest near our hostel. The beach is a short walk from where we are located, and there are two river mouths in walking distance. There are a range of delicious restaurants nearby and also lively nightlife. Tubing down the Palomino River is a fun activity, and it is possible to ride horses along the beach. There is a lovely walk in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, where the trees are huge, ancient and luscious. There are many other rivers, waterfalls and beaches a short bus ride from where we are located.

You will be able to feel that you are staying in your own home at the hostel. We have a very relaxed vibe and are not a commercial establishment. You will see what it is like to live as a local and we will share with you some great hidden spots to visit. We speak Spanish and English so we can help you practice your language skills as well.

We are looking for a volunteer who is able to help us out with cleaning in the hostel, looking after the garden (this will include watering and weeding), occasionally helping with guests, and also sometimes helping to look after feeding and taking care of our animals, generally for four hour shifts. The ability to speak at least minimal spanish is important!

We are also always happy to accept volunteers who have experience with construction and preferably carpentry to help us with projects and repairs around the hostel. Just keep in mind that we are not builders or carpenters, so this is not something we can teach you. We will let you know what tasks/projects we need help with, and we are flexible with the hours that you can complete the tasks.

We are a relaxed space, but we appreciate volunteers who work independently and get things done. So if it sounds like you could fit in, please get in touch :) You can contact us on writing to us over workaway.
