Description
Hello, my husband and I live in the beautiful Kenepuru Sounds (Marlborough Sounds) and are looking for a couple to come and take care of our little Cavoodle, Carly, whilst we go on a two week holiday overseas. We do live remotely, but we have wonderful neighbours who are just a few minutes walk away if you need anything. Carly is the most amazing little dog you'll meet, she loves playing, going for walks and snoozing. If you love the quiet, NZ bush and ocean, then you'll love our place.
We are only looking for pet sitters for when we are away - 28th May to the 13th June.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
While staying at our remote property, you’ll be immersed in the stunning, unspoilt landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island - 54 hectares of native bush and 1.4km of private coastline. This is a unique chance to experience the Kiwi way of life off the grid, far from cities and crowds, where nature takes centre stage and life slows down.
Even though we won’t be present during your full stay, we are committed to making you feel welcomed and comfortable. Before your arrival, we’re keen to have a video call to get to know each other and share more about the property, Carly and the area. We’ll also share information about the history of the area (we have amazing books for anyone extra keen), and what it’s like to live remotely in New Zealand.
To help you settle in, we’ll spend a day and night together before we head off and will check in regularly through video calls or messages. You’ll have access to written guides, local information, and suggestions for making the most of your time in this special place (like fishing, hiking and collecting your own oysters off the beach!).
While your experience will be independent, support is always available. We will communicate throughout your stay and are happy to answer questions or share stories about New Zealand culture via phone or video chat. Our dog will be your friendly companion and a connection to New Zealand's animal-loving culture.
If you wish to connect with locals, our nearest neighbours are a short walk away and are always keen for a cup of tea and a chat.
During your stay, you’ll learn about:
Life in remote, rural New Zealand
Caring for land and pets in an off-the-grid environment
Self-sufficiency and eco-friendly living
If you’re an adventurous couple seeking solitude, immersion in nature, and authentic cultural exchange, even from a distance - our home promises a rewarding experience.
Help
Carly is our absolutely life so our number one priority is that she is looked after, taken on adventures each day, played with and kept safe. Living remotely, I work from home and spend all day, every day with her, so she does get separation anxiety when we go away. So we are looking for a kind and caring couple to keep her company. Other than being with Carly, our vege garden needs watering every second day if there is no rain. But that's it :)
