    Description

We are Oda and Armando and we run a beautiful rural lodge in a warm subtropical valley in the Andes, 2 hours from Cusco, Peru. Here we welcome guests who wish to relax, enjoy healthy veggie food, or book a Yoga Retreat as well as local tours. The Lodge is situated near Limatambo on 2 ha of land, in the middle of nature and away from the main road. Ornithologists from all over the world like to visit us as three species of owls frequent our garden, two of them are rare and endemic. We are also producers of avocados, oranges, lemons and custard apples amongst others and have an organic vegetable garden as well as a wild forested part with a nature trail. We love animals and have two dogs and six cats. We are close to some major tourist attractions of the area such as Mount Salkantay, Humantay Lagoon, the condor viewpoint of Chonta and others. At present we run the farm and the lodge with only the help of one full-time staff who works in the gardens and a casual staff (a lady from Cusco who helps with the cleaning and cooking for our paying guests when we do have any). We need help mainly in the gardens and in our personal home with cleaning and in the family kitchen with the daily chores. We eat simple vegetarian (mostly vegan) food with organic fruit and veg from our land whenever available.

Life at the Lodge is simple and very very quiet as we are in a remote place. In order to keep the peace and energy of our place we ask our volunteers to feel sure they will fit in and feel at home in a place like this. We ask our volunteers to work 4-5 hours per day and appreciate flexibility, efficiency and sincere efforts employed in the tasks assigned.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You would stay in a one of our cozy bungalows with a private bathroom and be treated as a family member. You would also have the opportunity to practice your Spanish (although we also speak English), enjoy our Yoga and meditation space for self practice, learn about the hospitality and tourism business as well as organic gardening. You might also learn about designing and producing ceramics (Armando has a small workshop). Our place will appeal to people who love nature and enjoy being in a tranquil and remote place in the mountains. You would also learn about the local Quechua culture.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with our organic vegetable garden as well as the flower gardens (please bring long-sleeved shirts and pants and natural mosquito repellant as there are biting fruit flies). We would also like help with other chores around the house. These may involve some cleaning, general maintenance, helping in our own private family kitchen (not the Lodge kitchen) with the daily food preparation, and perhaps digital marketing.
