Description
Hello! We are a small family living on a beautiful island on the west coast of Canada - Bowen Island - looking for some help with our 12-year old and a little help around the house. We are about an hour outside of Vancouver, which is easily reachable by a ferry (20 min) and bus (30 min). We love the outdoors, and spend a lot of time skiing in the winter and sailing in the summer, among other things. It's very green here -- lots of trees and hikes, as well as numerous small beaches. The air is fresh and it's nice and quiet, but still has a few nice cafes, restaurants and pubs, local galleries and a friendly small community. But if you need a bit of city-life sometimes, it's easy to get there also.

We live in one of the most beautiful places - if you like the outdoors - forests, ocean, mountains etc., and a quiet and friendly environment, it's wonderful here. Hiking, beaches, etc. Over the winter we ski a lot -- most weekends -- so you'd be welcome to join us for that sometimes if that is of interest too, and when the weather is good we go sailing on the weekends (more in summer, but occasional fall/winter weekends too), which again, you'd be welcome to join us. A lot of life here is about nature and being out in it. If that sounds good to you, let's talk!

Help
Our daughter is a very active and playful girl who is starting grade 7 in September (and loves school). We mostly need a little help after school while we finish our work days (snacks, getting her to/from her many dance classes & other programs), as well as a couple mornings helping to get her to school when we need to start work early, or travel for work, and also for the odd night out for us! She's pretty independent now, but we're not quite ready to leave her fully on her own. We also really appreciate having help around the house with cleaning, gardening or cooking sometimes. We're looking for a female who is friendly and smiles a lot and loves children!

Accommodation
You'd have your own bedroom on the main floor of the house, and otherwise share space with us in the house. If you need a little more personal space, you'd be welcome to wander down to our sailboat (a 10 min walk from the house) to spend time there. Because we both work full time, you'd be welcome to share dinners with us in the evenings most weekdays when we get home, but you'd likely be on your own for most breakfasts and lunches.
What else ...
As noted above, we are on the coast and very close to Vancouver. There is so much to do if you want -- You can explore the city easily from here - restaurants, art galleries, etc., but the outdoors is a big draw as well. Whistler is within a couple of hours, as is unlimited hiking, biking, camping, etc. (For some of these things, you'd need a car).
