    Description

Welcome to my family home, a peaceful retreat in the mountains and forests of Gunma, about 30 minutes from Minakami.

Last year, after two intense months of renovation, the house slowly came back to life thanks to the help and energy of volunteers and friends. I truly couldn’t have done it alone. Honestly, I didn’t think it would turn out this good.
This big wooden house in the forest has a warm retro atmosphere and had been unused for many years.

Most of the big work is done, but in a 300 m² house there are always small things to improve, so I sometimes look for short-stay help. I’m especially happy if you have some DIY skills, because I’m still learning.

I’m looking for people who enjoy being active, helping out, fixing things, and spending time in nature. Life here is simple and hands-on, but really rewarding if you like mountain life.

I appreciate people who are positive, enjoy sharing, and are happy to help where needed. If that sounds like you, you’ll probably enjoy your time here.

    ⏳ Short stays only

All volunteers are paid ¥1,000 per hour.
You must have a visa that allows paid work in Japan (Working Holiday for example).

    🌿 Access & Area

I only got my driver’s license last year, and public transport here is limited (about 3 buses a day), so having your own car makes things easier.

The area is surrounded by nature with many outdoor activities.
Takaragawa Onsen, one of the most beautiful outdoor hot springs in Japan, is only a 10min drive away.

If you’d like to spend some time in the forest while helping with the final touches of the house, feel free to reach out. DIY skills are really welcome!
I’d be happy to hear from you.

I’m planning to host 2–3 people in April so the atmosphere stays relaxed and friendly.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I was born in Tokyo and raised in a double culture, with a Japanese father and an Italian mother. I attended the French School from age 3 and lived in Tokyo until I was 12. Then, I spent 10 years in Paris until I graduated from university. At 23, I returned to Tokyo and worked for FIAT for 9 years. In 2015, I left my job to follow my dream of a nomadic life and I have been using Workaway as volunteering since 2016 :)
Since then, I’ve spent 3 years traveling in South America, 1 year in Africa, and I’ve visited many countries in the Himalayan region, always happy to explore the smiling countries of Southeast Asia. I love nature, mountains, and meeting new people. I’m excited to share my languages—Japanese, Italian, French, English, and Spanish—and my experiences with you.
If you have ideas or suggestions to make the house even more magical, I’d love to hear them! I’m open to learning new things and excited to exchange knowledge and cultures with you.
