Description
Help out with permaculture gardening and small projects on our beautiful semi-rural property in Carmel, Western Australia
We are on a 6-acre property in the Perth hills, close to nature (including kangaroos, quendas, native birds and lots of amazing flora and fauna), bushwalking / hiking, and mountain biking. We are also close to the Bibbulman trail.
We have permaculture gardens where we grow fruit and vegetables, which we like to cook with every day. We have chickens, and 2 friendly dogs. We also have an orchard with plums, peaches, apricot, mulberries, citrus and other fruits. There is a dam, creek (which we are actively re-vegetating), gardens and frog pond.
We are a young family with 2 small children, and both have professions so life is very busy.
We are friendly, honest, caring and fair people who will offer a warm welcome to the right person or couple who share similar values to ourselves.Types of help and learning opportunities

We're looking for a mature person or couple to assist our young family. Must love children and animals . Must have a car. A love of cooking and/or gardening (especially permaculture gardening) would also be very favourable.
Some typical tasks might include:
- assisting with entertaining the kids
- assisting with cooking
- gardening / landscaping / yard-work
- helping with chooks, dogs etc
- general help around the house (e.g. washing, tidying up, light cleaning).
Do you:
- love kids and animals;
- love nature, gardening and being outdoors; and
- have a car
then please get in touch!
You might also have skills and/or experience in gardening, permaculture, horticulture, regenerative agriculture or landscaping.
We're looking for someone who's self motivated, trustworthy, flexible, energetic and has plenty of initiative.
We would be seeking 4-5 hours of work per day over 5 days, although there is some flexibility here for the right person/couple (e.g. if you wish to do a couple of longer days followed by a couple of days off).Languages

We have a lovely, clean and spacious guest cottage which is separate to the main house. The cottage has:
- Queen size bed
- ensuite with toilet and shower
- own verandah with view over the garden and frog pond
- own living space, sofa, table and chairs
- own kitchenette with bar fridge, kettle and basic cooking facilities (you are also welcome to use the kitchen and/or bbq in the main house if this is not being utilised)
- separate entrance/exit
- parking
We expect you'll keep the cottage, ensuite etc clean. No smoking. No drugs.
We separate our waste / rubbish and have compost and worm farms.
You'll need to have your own car and computer. There is no public transport nearby.
We will provide you with meals or ingredients to cook. As we are a young family with small children, you will mostly be expected to make your own breakfast and lunch (ingredients provided), however usually we will have dinner altogether. We love to cook (especially from the garden) and always make an effort to ensure that we eat fresh vegetables and fruit every day. Hopefully you'll want to share some of the cooking too. What else ...
There is lots to explore in the area, including bushwalking eg lesmurdie falls national park, swimming at rocky pool, and the Bibbulman trail is also closeby. There are also mountain bike trails and lovely bushwalks directly across the road. You are welcome to borrow mountain bikes to do some exploring in the bush surrounds. You will need your own car. We are unable to host Workaways without a car, as there is no public transport nearby.
