Description
Hello adventurous souls and thanks for your interest in being a guest at 'The Wells Lane'. Please read all the important info below:
First and foremost thanks to all my previous guests and for workaway! It has been a wonderful experience which I hope to continue this summer.
VERY IMPORTANT:
* I will only be looking to host people from around August 7th or 8th until around mid-September this year.
* Guests welcome for 1 - 2 weeks maximum
* I have two cats - Coucou & Roxi - and so if you are allergic to cats and/or want to bring dog/s we won't be able to do an exchange together.
The space being developed and which need help with is called 'The Wells Lane' and it is a LGBTQ+ safe space.
The three areas of focus and development are art, yoga, & permaculture.
The two areas of work for this August and September are:
* building a compost toilet out of recycled wood and adding cob to part of the exterior
* fixing 2 sets of outdoor steps - exploring laying down stones
As I only have part of August and September to work on these projects guests with woodwork skills and/or are very handy with tools etc have to be given priority. Also amazing would be someone with skills for laying stones as paths and steps and/or any experience with mosaic.
If you do not have specific skills in these areas it still might be possible for us to figure something out. There is always lot of other stuff to get done . For example: painting, gardening, organizing sheds etc. We will need to have a chat about dates and see if we can fit you in. If the weather is nice in September I hope I can host as long as I can before the summer ends.
In exchange for 3-4 hours help with this type of work for 5 days a week I can offer:
* a very comfortable bedroom for 1-2 people. It has a double bed so is good for friends or a couple sharing. Also, full kitchen, hot shower, washing machine etc, are freely available for guests to use.
* 3 vegan or vegetarian meals a day (we wcan discuss food in more detail if we connect - e.g. food allergies, likes/dislkkes etc)
If being a guest at The Wells Lane interests you, please get in contact with dates and an expression of interest.
cheers and thanks,
Ki

While you are volunteering with me you will have a great opportunity to experience Irish culture as I am very near Waterford city and I am involved in several art projects there. Also you can enjoy free yoga classes with me and can enjoy the beautiful nature all around Waterford county. I also have taught English before so can help you improve your English. I will provide full room and board so that your stay will be very inexpensive in Ireland.
Hopefully if you are queer you will make some connections to the local queer community. It is small but it exists!Help
I am looking for help with planting and general maintenance in general. This summer also help with building a compost toilet and placing down stone/mosaic/tiled steps outside in the garden. We may incorparate COB into the compost toilet design. Any skills in these areas would be amazing but not necessary.
After the 2/2.5 hours of work in the morning your time is totally free to explore. I am a 15 minute cycle away from Waterford's famous greenway cycle path which goes all the way to Dungarvan. Another one is opening soon near my house which will go to New Ross.
There are many beautiful places in Waterford county to explore as it has amazing mountains and beaches. If you love nature, cycling, camping, gardening, yoga, art, and having a laugh then my home will be perfect for you.
I identify as queer and non-binary and am very welcome to LGBTQ+ and also to those who are not LGBTQ+Languages

I would especially love volunteers who speak Spanish but that is not necessary.Accommodation
A comfy bedroom with a double bed in a 2 storey 19th century stone cottage with full use of the kitchen and bathroom/shower, washing machine etc. in the cottage.
This cottage and the land are LGBTQ+ safe spaces. All Queer people will be welcome to this space regardless of specific sexual orientation or gender identity or social background.
I will provide 3 meals a day to all guests. All meals will be vegetarian and where possible, vegan. We can discuss this in further detail later. For example: any allergies, like/dislikes, times you usually eat etc. Guests are expected to clean up the kitchen after meals as part of their work for the day.
Guests are welcome to consume alcohol but I will not provide that, and I ask all guests to drink in moderation unless we are having a party. What else ...
There are countless things you can do with your time off nearby. The city is only 10 minutes away on a bike. You can enjoy the pubs and restaurants and cultural centres in the city. You can also go sailing in Dunmore East, surfing in Tramore, climb the comeragh mountains, go swimming in stunning glacier lakes. The list is endless. Or you may just want lots of quiet time by the river at the cottage and that is ok too.

The work overall was pleasant and rewarding. We did some painting, but mostly gardening, which was so good and fulfilling.
