    Description

We are a small international family with a large house and garden in west side of Oslo. We have a river next to our garden that features several small waterfalls and is regularly visited by wild ducks. Despite our tranquil setting, we are well connected by public transport to both the Oslo city center (just 10 minutes by bus to Majorstuen) and nature (Nordmarka ski and hiking routes are a 10-minute drive away).

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are multiculture family ourselves, my husband is a swiss and I'm chinese. We have lived in Norway for more than 10 years and have adopted a lot of norwegian living style, such as we love winter sports and hiking. We will be happy to take our guest with us when we go for local hiking/sports. Oslo itself also has a lot of culture activity, our house is located close to the city center of oslo( 10min bus ride), it's easy to visit most part of oslo from our place by public transport. Alternatively, we have private parking space that can host one more car, we also have one bike that the guest can use to explore the city and nearby forest.

    Help

We love travel, hiking and experience different cultures. We used to travel a lot and lived in different places in the world. But now that we have a little one, it's a bit difficult to travel with her when she's tiny. Yet we would like to expose our child to a multicultural environment and meeting new friends. We are welcoming guests who enjoys spending time with children. We also wanted to do many things with the house such as organizing our drawers, paint some part of the house and decorating guest rooms, but didn't have too much time to spare since we both work and have a tiny one running around.

We would also greatly appreciate our guest to join us in handling light household chores. We have a housekeeper who visits regularly, and our child is attending kindergarten, so non of these task are heavy work nor are mandatory, we are highly flexible regarding the content of the help.

    Accommodation

We have several guest rooms and guest can have their own room. We have less bathroom than guestrooms so might need to share bathroom with other guest depending on how busy we are. In general, the guest will have her/his own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen will be shared, and we are happy to share the dinner table. We have a city/mountain hybrid bike available for the guest to use, and we would be delighted to spend time exploring the surrounding area together, schedule permitting.

We would love to eat/cook with the guest when the condition allows. But due to the fact of having a child our eating is very different from normal dinner time. Most of the time we eat simple norwegian style food for breakfast and lunch, and we usually eat something warm and relax in the evening. We are meat lovers and dont have allergy:)
