Description
We run a family business — a Kite & Wingfoil school/station located in one of the top watersport destinations: Safaga/Soma Bay, Red Sea, Egypt. We deeply value the local culture and the expertise of our staff, particularly when it comes to the local wind conditions.
We took over this small-to-medium-sized station in 2017, which is located directly on the beach within a resort, 45 km from Hurghada. Despite the resort’s upscale accommodations, we welcome many individual travelers staying in budget hotels across from the resort. Safaga is a charming small town, primarily frequented by divers and watersport enthusiasts.
Our daily activities include using a small Zodiac motorboat or a larger boat that can host up to 30 people. We take guests to our main kitesurfing spot in Soma Bay or Safaga Island, where we have anchored a platform on a fully submerged island — a perfect, off-the-beaten-path spot for both beginners and advanced kitesurfers.
Wingfoiling starts directly from the beach at the station, and when the wind is calm, we offer wakeboarding as an alternative.
We pride ourselves on having an easy-going, welcoming team. If you're passionate about local culture, working with a small team, and enjoying watersports, you’ll quickly become part of our family!
We are currently looking for someone to assist us in Social Media Marketing — taking pictures, creating small videos, and posting them on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Additional tasks will include basic cleaning (such as wiping down tables and seating areas) and making coffee for guests. You’ll also assist with guest relations, responding to booking requests, and conducting market research online.
We’re primarily seeking someone who speaks French, English, or German, and has good communication skills. If you have a solid command of English, we would also appreciate your help in improving our team’s English by providing feedback on grammar mistakes and teaching new words.
Our guests are mainly French, German, and Egyptian, and the atmosphere is sporty, family-like, and international. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn kitesurfing or wingfoiling at a discounted rate or in exchange for additional working hours.
Important Details:
We usually accept volunteers for a minimum stay of 4 weeks.
For a 4-week stay, you’ll receive a good discount on kite courses and rentals.
Volunteers work 5 days a week and have 2 days off.
In return, volunteers receive free accommodation, free lunch, free Wi-Fi, as well as discounts on lessons or rentals depending on the duration of the stay.
A bit about myself: I am German-Egyptian, having grown up in Cairo, with experience living in Germany, France, Scotland, Austria, South Sudan, and Egypt. After studying and working in tourism for five years, I pursued a degree in International Development and spent several years volunteering and working with the UN, primarily in child protection. Now, I’m back in tourism, managing the Kite & Wingfoil school/station.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
First of all, you will benefit from the cultural exchange through working with us and the whole team and of course through the guest contact. Additionally, Luxor is only 3 hours by car away and Cairo can be reached by bus (6hours). Egypt has to offer a lot culturally and Safaga can be your base to do that.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Simple reception & Office work with Social Media Marketing; taking pictures, making small videos out in the water, some guest relation (going out for a drink or dinner, having a chat) or answering booking requests.

Private room, sharing a flat with other volunteers/ instructors or private studio (kitchen, bathroom and sleeping room).
What else ...
Your accommodation will be 10 minutes walking distance from the station, just opposite the Resort, within an area where there are several small budget hotels with restaurants, a bar and small supermarkets.
You will have access to the beach any time you want, as the station will be your base that you can come to any day, even during your day off. We will provide a local sim card and charge for you enough to have internet connection all the time. And you can just jump into the water for a swim or for snorkelling. You might become friends with the animation team and join them for their daily volley ball session in the afternoon.
You can as well learn how to kitesurf, wingfoil, do Stand-up Paddling or visit Luxor, Cairo or Hurghada. There is not much party going on in Safaga, but there are some coffees who are well visited in the evenings from locals as well as from tourists, to enjoy a tee, a fresh juice or a shisa.A little more information
