We run a family-business, a Kite & Windsurf school/station in one of the top destinations for watersport lovers - Safaga/Soma Bay, Red Sea, Egypt. We we value the local culture and the knowledge our staff brings along in terms of the local wind conditions.
We took over the station recently, it is small-medium sized and is located directly at the beach within a Resort and Red Sea (45 km away from Hurghada) but we receive a lot of individual travellers who stay opposite the Resort in one of the budget hotels. Safaga is a small town that is mainly visited by Divers and Watersport lovers.
On a daily basis we go out by either a small motor boat (Zodiac), or by a bigger boat that can host up to 30 people, to our main kitesurfing Spot in Soma Bay- where we have anchored a platform on a fully submerged island, it is a perfect spot for kitesurfers and it is off the mass, with perfect conditions for beginners and advanced kiters.
Windsurfers start right away at the beach at the station and when there is no wind, we offer wakeboarding as an alternative.
We are an easy going team, you will quickly become part of the Team if you are interested in local culture, being part of a small team and interested in water sports!
We are mainly looking for someone who can support us in Social Media Marketing, taking pictures, small videos and posting them on our Facebook page. Some basic cleaning (removing dust from tables and seating area, reception area) might be among your tasks that you share with the whole team.
We are looking for a FRENCH or GERMAN speaking person who can help us as well in responding to booking requests, do some guest relation or help in market research (web based). Depending on work load, you might help out at covering the reception while you are working on the material for the social media.
We would appreciate someone who has good English speaking skills and who is willing to help our staff improving their English - just giving them feedback if they make grammar mistakes or teaching them a new word.
We receive mainly French, German and Egyptian guests and the atmosphere is sportive, family-like and international. Volunteers will have the option to learn kitesurfing or windsurfing for a well discounted rate or in exchange of extra working hours.
Myself, I am German-Egyptian and I grew up mainly in Cairo but have lived in Germany, France, Scotland, Austria, South Sudan and Egypt. After studdying and working in Tourism for 5 years, I studied International Development and have volunteered and worked with the UN for several years, mainly within Child Protection. Now I am back to Tourism together with my Egyptian-Armenian husband and we manage the Kite & Windsurf school/station.
First of all, you will benefit from the cultural exchange through working with us and the whole team and of course through the guest contact. Additionally, Luxor is only 3 hours by car away and Cairo can be reached by bus (6hours). Egypt has to offer a lot culturally and Safaga can be your base to do that.
Simple reception & Office work with Social Media Marketing; taking pictures, making small movies out in the water, some guest relation (going out for a drink or dinner, having a chat) or answering booking requests.
Private room, sharing a flat with other volunteers/ instructors or private studio (kitchen, bathroom and sleeping room).
If you work only 3 hours per day, food is on you, otherwise we will go shopping together and buy for you your food that you can prepare yourself. And we will invite you for dinner at our place or somewhere out - from time to time!
Your accommodation will be 10 minutes walking distance from the station, just opposite the Resort, within an area where there are several small budget hotels with restaurants, a bar and small supermarkets.
You will have access to the beach any time you want, as the station will be your base that you can come to any day, even during your day off. There is free wi-fi in the station and you can just jump into the water for a swim or for snorkelling. You might become friends with the animation team and join them for their daily volley ball session in the afternoon.
You can as well learn how to kitesurf, windsurf, do Stand-up Paddling or visit Luxor, Cairo or Hurghada. There is not much party going on in Safaga, but the animation team of the hotel that we are staying at organises every Friday night a night out in Hurghada, where there are a lot of night clubs.
