    Description

We have a hobby kennel of 19 beautiful , loving , hard working Siberian Huskies situated on 10 acres in a small rural community one hour west of Whitehorse in the Yukon. We also have 2 Siberian Huskies that have run but are now strictly house and hiking dogs, and 2 lively aging Alaskan Huskies who no longer run but totally enjoy walks and rambles in the bush.

Our home is on grid with full amenities, and our guests/helpers and handlers share our home with us.

We live in a truly amazing part of the world and feel blessed to live here and provide an opportunity to share it with other like minded people

Summer is over and now it's time to run Dogs!!

We are NOT a business , our entire purpose for using workaway is to offer individuals or a couple the opportunity spend the winter with us and learn to take care of and run their own team and learn about living in this truly magnificant place with us.

In addition there are always dogyard chores to do , repairs etc. Our workawayers are treated as family and together we take care of the dogs. There is ample time for other recreational or cultural pursuits. We can offer a vehicle for those who want to do some exploring further afield. Whitehorse is only an hour away and there you can learn about the Klondike, engage in a wide range of cultural/recreational activities,

We also share our house with 2 Savannah cats, and you must really like cats to come here!

So, Along with all the dog chores now , there are all kinds of fencing and fixing projects, cutting firewood, Getting sleds ready , going through equipment that hasn't been used in a few months, cutting up lots of frozen meat for the dogs and so on. There's no end of projects here!!

As the autumn comes to an end it is time to get training dogs for the winter mushing season. I will be participating in a number of races with the dogs and I am looking for one person or a couple who are keen to come for the whole winter to help with the dog care, and training/ running of dogs. Ideally it would be amazing to get someone with experience in working with dogs but if you are enthusiastic and willing to learn then we have a place for you!

We have upgraded to Starlink and it's been excellent, so you will have access!

We do not as a general rule take people with pet dogs

We do not take smokers of any kind, and we do not have room for families

We also do not take people with dietary restrictions, we do eat very well, and we've had lots of compliments!!

We are also very happy for you to cook or bake if you have a passion for it.

In the off season we offer workawayers the opportunity to get to know these amazing animals that are part of our family, while helping out in dog chores and other projects. We are NOT a farm but we do have a garden and greenhouse.
