    Description

Hello! We are Lisa, Steve, and our two children, Molly and Sebastian. Alongside our theee rescue cats and numerous chickens. We left the rat race in the UK three years ago to pursue a simpler, more fulfilling lifestyle in the beautiful Algarve region of Portugal. We’re in the process of renovating our home and would love some help to bring our dream to life.

We currently live in a cozy yurt and have set up a lovely outdoor kitchen and bathroom while we work on our small house. We also have a lovely bell tent to accommodate friends, guests, and volunteers like you!

    The Help We Need:

    We’d love your help with:

    • Gardening & Outdoor help: Join us in improving and maintaining our land! Tasks include gardening, weeding, planting, or helping with other outdoor projects.
    • Cooking & Family Life: If you’re comfortable in the kitchen, we’d appreciate your help preparing meals. We’d also love it if you’d spend time with our two children, Molly and Sebastian, sharing stories, games, or simply your company.

We usually have a quick chat around 8:30 a.m., after breakfast, to go over the tasks for the day. We’re early risers, so it’s important to be comfortable starting fairly early.

Our philosophy is simple: start early, finish early — this helps us avoid working during the hottest part of the day, make the most of our time, and still have plenty of opportunity to relax later on.

If you have any building skills, we’d love for you to bring them along too!

No matter your level of experience, the most important thing is your positive attitude and willingness to pitch in.

    What We Offer:

We want to ensure your stay is as comfortable and rewarding as possible. Here’s what you can look forward to:
    • Accommodation: A private, cozy bell tent with bedding and towels provided.
    • Facilities: Access to our lovely outdoor kitchen and bathroom, shared with us and other helpers.
    • Food: We will provide cereals or toast for breakfast, salad, sandwiches, or soup for lunch, and an evening meal to be decided together. If you enjoy snacks or additional food items, we kindly ask that you provide these yourself.

    Beautiful Surroundings:
    • 15 minutes by car from Silves, a historic town famous for its castle and charming cobblestone streets.
    • 5 minute by car to Messines, where you’ll find supermarkets, cafes, and other conveniences.
    • 20 minute drive from some of the Algarve’s most stunning beaches and coastal trails. There’s also a nearby reservoir (barragem) where you can hike, swim, or simply relax.

Please note that the nearest shops/cafes are a 45 minute walk, we are not in a tourist town centre

    What We’re Looking For

We’re open to individuals or couples who are easygoing, hardworking, and excited to join our family project. Experience in DIY, cooking, or gardening is preferred—what matters most is a positive attitude and a willingness to lend a hand!
