Description
Hello! We are Lisa (43), Steve (53), and our two children, Molly (10) and Sebastian (9). Alongside our two little rescue cats, Milo & Mika, we left the rat race in the UK two years ago to pursue a simpler, more fulfilling lifestyle in the beautiful Algarve region of Portugal. We’re in the process of renovating our home and would love some help to bring our dream to life.
We currently live in a cozy yurt and have set up a lovely outdoor kitchen and bathroom while we work on our small house. We also have a lovely bell tent to accommodate friends, guests, and volunteers like you!
The Help We Need:
We’d love some assistance with:
• DIY projects: If you have experience in light construction, renovation, or general handy work, that would be great.
• Land work: We’re working on improving and maintaining our land, so help with gardening, weeding, or outdoor tasks would be appreciated.
• Cooking and family life: If you’re comfortable in the kitchen and enjoy spending time with kids, we’d love to have you help us with meals and share your company with Molly and Sebastian.
Whether you’re a solo traveler or a couple, we’d be thrilled to welcome you into our family.
What We Offer:
• A stay on our little farm, surrounded by stunning nature. We’re located near the town of Silves in the Algarve, and there are many beautiful beaches just a 20-minute drive away. The area is perfect for hiking, cycling, and swimming—there’s even a nearby barragem (reservoir) where you can take a dip.
• You’ll have access to your own bell tent with bedding and towels included and shared use of our lovely outdoor kitchen and bathroom.
• In exchange for around 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, we provide food and accommodation.
• You’ll also get the chance to experience life in a peaceful, rural part of Portugal while being just a short drive from bustling towns and coastal spots.
Location:
• We’re 10 minutes from the historic town of Silves, known for its castle and cobblestone streets.
• Only 5 minutes from Messines, where you can find supermarkets, cafes, and other amenities.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re open to individuals or couples who are easygoing, hardworking, and excited about being part of our family project. Experience in DIY, cooking, or gardening is a plus but not required—you just need a good attitude and a willingness to learn!

Help
DIY skills would be great but not essential, help with the general day to day running of our home or helping manage our land and vegetables. we welcome single people, small familys or couples

• Constructing a new garden shed and outdoor seating areas
• building stone walls around the property
• Creating a compost toilet for our guest cabin

Bell tent with all bedding and towels provided or space for camper van
3 meals a day are provided, We usually prepare meals together, so we ask volunteers to help with basic kitchen tasks like chopping vegetables, setting the table, or cleaning up after meals. If you enjoy cooking, we’d love for you to take part in preparing meals, but it’s not a requirement
