Description
We are a fun, easy going, young at heart, early 50's couple who value faith, family, honesty, integrity and a strong work and life ethic. We don't drink, smoke, party or do drugs of any kind and expect the same of our work-awayers. (With the exception of light, social drinking or smoking in designated outdoor area, since we are in a protected forest area.) We live life to the fullest, balancing work and play. Our grown kids, grandkids and furry family are at the top of our priority list in life. We have a small, but lively hobby farm just off the highway on 45 acres of protected forest land in a gorgeous, private, riverfront area and would love to share the experience of our blessed, but sometimes busy daily life with you. We are also completing an exciting business venture right here on our land that requires a lot of hands on deck this summer. So we are seeking a work-awayer or two to experience life with and to help with this venture. Longer or shorter term. (2 weeks to 4 months.) Home reno/DYI/wood working knowledge/experience is a must, as we have lots of fun little projects we are working on. We are only two hours from the Rocky Mountains, 10 minutes from several lakes for fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking and more- we really have an endless playground right at our door step. Our home is charming farmhouse bungalow that will make you feel like you have arrived at home when you step thru the door. We have several walking/biking trails on the property to explore. In additional to almost 1 km of riverfront land, we also have a nice creek that branches off on the property- bringing paradise to our lives daily. For anyone who loves nature, animals, fishing, or star gazing- this is the spot! There are multiple crown land quadding and dirt biking trails also within minutes of the property. We will have our bikes, kayaks and blow up paddles boards available for your use when staying here in the summer months.
We are looking for a single or couple to come and join us in the adventure of our daily lives this summer. Short-term stays would be in exchange for accommodations on our little piece of paradise, while longer term could have the potential for earnings. They would connect with us like trusted family and help with the daily animal care, (pigs, goats, lambs, chickens, dogs and cats) and a few different projects we have on the go. If you are not an animal or nature lover, or have allergies, our home and lifestyle definitely would not be the right fit for you.

We attend a christian church regularly, we love playing pickleball, hosting game nights, having our grandchildren over, hiking, quading and dirt biking, e-biking, paddle boarding and more. These are just some of the social activities that we do that could connect you to others within our circle and community, if you were interested.
I work from home and focus primarily on my business and the animals and home and the new business venture. We raise chickens, which includes collecting eggs daily and an annual butcher each summer. We have pet dogs, cats, sheep, goats and pigs. And the chickens. Lots of chickens! Everything I have learned about caring for them has been through research and hands on experience and I can now pass that knowledge on to you.
My husband works primarily 6 to 7 days a week in a near by town. He is an incredibly hard worker and a man that can build, or make just about anything. He is a natural handyman, he's a welder, and all round jack of all trades.
The more open and willing you are to experiences and new challenges, the more rewarding, memorable and fun this experience could be for you.
Help
You will share and experience in a variety of work and homesteading/farm experiences, such as the daily care of our domestic & farm animals, lawn & garden care, clearing & splitting deadfall from forested areas, helping with some small building projects, etc. There will be times we will work side by side and other times that you will tackle things on your own. It will really just depend on the day, and/or the project. We are looking for a partnership, to ease our load, not someone to do all our work for us. This means there will be many days there will be no help needed at all (in addition to normal days off) and other times we will need your full commitment. We are flexible and kind and ask the same of our work-aways. As mentioned in my previous section- we value honesty, integrity, trust & a strong work ethic above all. With this, a great relationship can be formed.

Accommodation
You would be staying in our cozy, modern 26 foot holiday trailer that has full power with heat and A/C. a small kitchen, bathroom with full shower and queen size bed. We have rooms in the home, but we feel this gives you more privacy and space for yourself.
While I will not be cooking every day, I would also include you in any dinners I prepare, and I would supply you with a variety of basic groceries each week. We are meat eaters and do butcher our own pork and chicken, so this likely would not be a good fit for a vegetarian, (Unless you were okay with this) or for someone with severe allergies or food restrictions.
What else ...
I think my previous descriptions set the tone for the playground of activities that can be done in and around our home on your time off. If you are an outdoor person, the options are really endless. There is no public transportation, as we are on an acreage, however I make frequent trips to the city at least 2 times a week.
There isn't much more to know about us that we haven't already shared. We are quiet people and enjoy our peaceful but full life, which often includes a full day, but some evening time unwinding. But we also love people and love the beautiful, adventurous, sometimes spontaneous life we have created and always make time for social and outdoor activities. We are typically in bed by 11 and I am up by 7:30 for chores. (My husband leaves much earlier)
There aren't really any house rules per say- other than the no heavy drinking, no partying, no smoking & no drugs. Those are hard rules with no exceptions.
I guess the obvious additions to that would be to clean up after your self, leave things as you found them, put things back where you got them, and stay out of our private spaces. I hate to think that these are rules, but rather just a common courtesy and/or expectation from anyone a person chooses to share a home with.
