Description
We are a 160 Acre ranch 24 Km east of Osoyoos British Columbia.
Osoyoos is a very busy Tourist Town in the Okanagan valley. As you can imagine, 160 acres keeps us busy so we greatly value welcoming Workaway support to our home.

This is such a beautiful pocket of the province, we absolutely love it. We are a young family living the rural life.
Projects involving children

Help
Gardening, mowing lawn, landscaping, painting, fencing, splitting wood for our furnace, helping out with our chickens and helping around the house and Yard, helping to set up our veggie plot. We have a lot of outdoor work on the Ranch from April right through October if you're looking to get some beautiful fresh air and exercise! In the late Fall and Winter we are looking for help with some interior organization and small renos!

Osoyoos Lake is the warmest freshwater lake in Canada with average summer water temperatures of 24°C (75°F). The lake is surrounded by kilometres of beaches (public and private), parks and picnic grounds, such as Gyro Beach, Lions Centennial Park, Kinsmen Park, Legion Beach and Haynes Point Provincial Park.

Spotted Lake is a saline endorheic alkali lake located northwest of Osoyoos.

There are two centres dedicated to preserving the ecosystem of the Okanagan Desert. The Osoyoos Desert Centre is located 3 km north of Osoyoos off Highway 97, while the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre is located adjacent to the Nk'mip Winery on the Osoyoos Indian Reserve.

My wife and I joined Maya and Tom at their guest ranch just outside of Osoyoos BC, Canada for two weeks in September of 2020. We had originally planned to travel abroad and volunteer at another workaway location, and due to the Pandemic, all of that had to be… read more cancelled. So looking for something closer to home somewhat last minute, we came across the profile for the Ranch near beautiful Osoyoos BC. We reached out and asked if we could be accommodated on a few weeks notice, and were happy to hear that they would welcome us to join them as they prepared the ranch for the winter. There was some minor initial confusion as we had applied to Marianne, but in her first email, Maya cleared things up by letting us know that her and her husband Tom had bought the ranch in the spring, and as new owners would be our hosts for our time at the Ranch. Maya was great to communicate with from the get go, she was up front and clearly explained everything via email and made us feel like we would be very welcome to join them at the Ranch. The Ranch is a beautiful stretch of farmland located about 20 mins east of the town of Osoyoos. It sits at about 3000ft of elevation right along the Canada/US border with some amazing views and epic sunsets. There is a main building with several guest suites run as a B&B, a duplex cabin, and a small campground with about 12 sites or so, and we arranged to bring our camping trailer and camp for the two week duration of our stay at the ranch. There are some horses billeted there, and a few wayward cows that crossed over from the US, but the ranch does not offer trail rides or anything along those lines, the main line of business is the B&B and campground. Maya and Tom were amazing hosts for us, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and welcoming us into their beautiful family. The food at mealtimes was always exceptional, and we were constantly amazed at what a dedicated and hard working person Maya was as the master of all at the ranch, running the business end while still serving as supermom to a young daughter and son. We worked 5 days on, two days off, and used the time off to explore the beautiful area around the ranch itself, from wineries to mining ghosts towns, the possibilities are endless. Daily tasks included everything from tree trimming, to grounds and garden maintenance, fence mending/building, cutting and stacking firewood, to helping keep the campground and cabins up and running. A very enjoyable set of duties that kept us busy throughout the day, usually working alongside some of Tom and Mayas family who are always present to help keep the ranch running. We enjoyed every minute of our time at the ranch, and desperately hope to return again one day soon, and remain grateful to Maya and Tom for both the experience and the hospitality they provided while we were doing our time as workawayers at their ranch. They have a lot on their plate and are two very busy people indeed, and we were pleased to be able to do our very small part to help out at the beautiful Ranch. Thank you Maya and Tom, we will be back!
