Description
We are a family of 4 . Vilde 9, Terne 14 and parents Melina 42 and Søren 45.
We like to spend time together, play games, enjoy nature, swimming in our lake all year, and growing berries and fruits, rising chickens, sheep and tending our horse.
We speak Danish in our family, but all in the family understand and speaks English too.
We have been traveling a lot ourselves with, and without, kids and love to meet people from other parts of the world and learn about politics and lifestyle.
We moved out of central Copenhagen a decade ago - and we are now living on a renovated 300 sqm homestead originally from 1924.
The homestead is a hobby project with a few sheeps, a dog, two cats, lots of chickens sometimes turkeys and ducks, a large lake, forrest areas, in general some really nice nature, with a lot of wildlife.
We eat rather diverse, vegetarian but also fish, chicken and lamb and game - most, if not all, from our own land.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Travellers staying with us will learn about basic home projects, and taking care of animals (righht now we only have chickens, cats and a dog)
Everyday we eat dinner together, my wife and I are both fairly good chefs, and we expect that we will be cooking together.
Our kids (and us) are vey keen card og and board gamers.
In the summer we play badminton the garden and swim the lake. All in all we will do our best to introduce travellers to Danish culture, politics and everyday life in a family. We have chosen a life in the countryside, so visitors will also learn about the ups and downs of choosing a different lifestyle than busy city life.
Help
This summer we need a hand with some maintenance tasks. We have a small barn that is in need of a some light painting, a new chicken pen to build, some garden tasks.
All in all lost of small projects in and around the house.
Winther we need a hand with some light indoor renovation, fencing a new chicken pen, winter gardening cutting tree sablings down, pruning fruit trees, cutting climbing vines, tending old, and contructing new garden stone walls. But it all depends on the weather... its not fun to work outside if it is wet.

Accommodation
We have renovated most of our house during the last 2 years. We have a large guest room with a double bed and in connection with a small living room, only to you guys. So you will have your own wing in the house.
It’s nice and quiet and you won’t hear the family in the morning.
You’ll have access to a bathroom on the same floor.
We sleep upstairs and have a second bathroom/toilet in the other end of the house.
You’ll of course also have access to high speed internet.
We are working as partly self-employed psychologist (Melina) and Gymnasium teacher (Søren)
Our days normally start around 6:30 getting the kids ready for school around 8. We both works from home a few days a week.
From from our town there is easy access to Copenhagen 45 min by train 2-3 times pr. hour. The bike ride to the station takes about 12 min.
Especially in the summer time its possible and a bliss to camp by hour lake, we are more than happy the lent you tent, sleeping bags etc you want to camp out for some days.
What else ...
We are situated in a small village in the beautiful Danish countryside. Our house is 2. 5 km, from the nearest train station and a 45 min train ride to Copenhagen Central. Besides our own swimming lake, there are several lakes with several beaches just a short bikeride away.
The nearest town is called Sorø and is among the oldest in the country, the whole area is mainly forrest and small scale farming, forest and fields are just outside the door
We are placed in the center of the island Zealand, so it is a not only a short train ride to Copenhagen, but also the same distance Funen and Odense, og a bit further to Jutland.
