Description
Hello, I'm Annie or Настя
If you'd like to experience natural, simple living and see what it is like to start a life relying more on yourself than the consumer driven culture, and hear about the realities of "community living", then we may just be a match.
We are a young family with four kids under 10, trying hard to transition into self sufficiency. We live off grid, on a bush block. It is a 15 minutes drive to town. A bus can be caught 2.4km away. Coonabarabran is Australia's astronomy capital. The observatory here allows space and planet enthusiasts to explore their interests.
My kids are homeschooled, don't eat or watch junk, not allowed tech devices, run and play with each other, help garden and clean up, my 5 year old chops wood, my 8 year sews and weaves - and they love the lifestyle. If we watch a film, we discuss the subliminal messages.
I spent summers in Russia on dacha plots, where people grew their own food and knew their neighbors. My partner delved into alternate research 17 years ago, and has saved me.
His knowledge in permaculture and water harvesting is extraordinary. He has build our place from scratch, on minimal $
Now we are about to be in a very busy time where we move our whole place to another property.
Where we are now is shared land with others. Community living is our dream, already tried and tested. Now we hope to initiate something that really functions. Leadership is best done by example.
I could use help with animal care, child management, cleaning, cooking, homeschooling or whatever it may be. I know how to preserve food in jars, make sour dough, kombucha, sour kraut, milk kefir, butcher a chicken, milk a goat, start a fire etc. I don't wear makeup, we cut our own hair. We could learn together how to make our own face and body cream. When the family is sick, we use herbs.
If you are a bloke, you could learn mechanics, how to make your own black diesel, what it takes to build a house, how to make compost, raise plants and trees, have a try of our traditional tools for woodwork or scything.
We feel the greatest thing we have to offer, and only if there is an interest (we would not force anything) is how to think like an individual and break away from "group think" - what is this reality and who is in control of it? What does it mean to be a "subject of the crown"?
As people, we are not "fake" friendly. We are just us, a bit austere and very honest.
The accommodation is primal and for those who like to camp. As long as there is warm bedding, it is doable - see camp trailer in photos, that you would be welcome to use. Inside is a very comfortable high quality double mattress, storage space and floor space. Because it is camping, we would not expect as many hours as someone with a house would.
Our family shower is available for quick washes.
We can provide you with your own camp stove and/or fire for cooking.
My partner smokes yes, but not the pre rolled tobacco with toxins added. -

Help
We are offering a clean and tidy camper trailer, or space to park your own van.
Staying with us includes some use of our living space, such as the shower. Rain water is free, you are welcome to use the bicycle.
The help includes house work such as washing dishes, looking after the chickens and goats, help my kids with homeschooling perhaps, pruning, watering the garden, sweep a little, care for trees in the nursery,
We want someone who, like us, does not like drama, is easy to get along with, is respectful, has good communication and honesty, is health conscious.
We are omnivorous.
