  Description

  This is a non-profit dog rescue based in Puerto Rico, an island with over 500,000 stray and abandoned animals . We rescue, rehabilitate, vaccinate, and rehome dogs, working to get them off the streets and into loving forever homes across the U.S. and beyond.
  
  We're looking for a passionate, hands-on animal lover to come live with us and be part of the mission. You'll help care for our rescues on-site, assist with day-to-day tasks, support adoptees across the island, handle IT and marketing campaigns, and be a real part of the community we're building around these animals. In return, you'll get a home base in beautiful Puerto Rico, the company of some incredible dogs, and the satisfaction of work that genuinely matters.

  Puerto Rico gets under your skin and stays there. We're on the northwest coast, home to some of the best surf breaks in the Caribbean if you ride waves, you're in the right place. If you don't, the beaches alone are worth it.
  
  Beyond the ocean, Puerto Rico is a place of incredible warmth, culture, and community. Expect amazing food, music everywhere, and people who genuinely welcome you in. You'll get to know the real island vibrant, resilient, and beautiful through the network of fosters, rescuers, and animal lovers we'll introduce you to.

  A Day in the Life
  
  No two days are exactly the same, but your time with us will be full of purpose. As our volunteer, you'll be hands-on from morning to night — here's what that looks like:
  
  🐾 Daily dog care — feeding, watering, and checking in on all the dogs on-site, making sure everyone is healthy, happy, and accounted for
  🧹 Kennel & space cleaning — keeping the living areas clean and safe for the animals in our care
  💊 Medication management — administering medications and supplements to dogs on treatment plans and keeping accurate records
  🤝 Foster coordination — meeting and communicating with foster families, helping match dogs to the right homes and following up on how they're settling in
  📋 Adoption administration — helping manage adoption inquiries, applications, and follow-ups so dogs find the right forever families
  🚗 Island transport — occasionally driving animals across Puerto Rico to fosters, vet appointments, rescue partners or flights.
  
  This is a real, roll-up-your-sleeves role help alongside the animals each day it's demanding, but incredibly rewarding. A love of dogs is a must; experience with animal care or rescue is a bonus.

  Your accommodation is a fully stocked private studio off site, with a full kitchen and bathroom all to yourself.Located in the fun and fabulous Rincon, you couldn't ask for a better location on the island. You'll have your own space to rest, recharge, and settle into island life while you work.
  A car will be provided to handle work-related errands and get you around during the week. Please note this vehicle is reserved for work use — if you'd like to explore the island on weekends or venture further afield, a car rental is easy to arrange locally and opens up all that PR's west coast has to offer.
  
  With world-class beaches, charming towns, great food, and warm Caribbean weather on your doorstep, there's no shortage of adventure waiting for your time off.
  
  Basic ingredients will be bought from the local grocers to be used by our volunteers in their studio. Due to the fact that you get your own private space away from the actual rescue home, meals are not able to be shared. But you will be welcome to grab things from the main home as well when needed.

  Rincón is a surf town with a soul. World-class waves, warm Caribbean water, and endless sunshine make it an outdoor lover's dream whether you're surfing, snorkeling, paddleboarding, hiking, rock climbing, or simply watching humpback whales pass by in season.
  The sunsets here are genuinely legendary. Every evening the sky lights up over the Caribbean and the whole town seems to stop and take it in.
  The local culture is vibrant and creative live music spills out of open-air bars most nights, and the weekly Thursday Art Walk brings the community together with local artists, makers, and good energy in the streets. Farmers markets are on Sundays and the best place to get fresh produce.
  The people are warm, welcoming, and fiercely proud of this little corner of the island. You'll feel it from day one.
