    Description

    Hi, I am Kai :)

I’m a traveler, a vegan, and a permaculture enthusiast deeply committed to sustainable and ethical living. In 2007 I started travelling and since then I’ve explored nearly 50 countries. Along the way, I discovered permaculture in Thailand in 2011. That moment changed everything. Since then, permaculture design has been the guiding thread of my life.

While traveling, I volunteered with various ecological and community projects around the world, learning by doing and exchanging knowledge across cultures. Between 2018 and 2023, I worked as a self employed permaculture designer, consultant, educator, and builder in and around Berlin — helping to create spaces that regenerate the land and connect people. In 2023, I enrolled in a Landscape Architecture course at TU Berlin.

I have been a vegan since 2019 (after over a decade being a vegetarian) and a conscious consumer long before that. For me, it’s all part of living in alignment with my values and caring for the planet in every aspect of life.

While I’m in Berlin, I divide my time between my university studies, my allotment garden (just 10 minutes by bike from Tempelhofer Feld) among many other interests and little projects.
I also enjoy exploring the city at all hours — there's always something happening, and I try to experience as much of it as I can. I'm often on the lookout for the next open-air rave, or underground party with good electronic music. If that’s your vibe too, even better!

One of my bigger life goals is to co-create a permaculture-based community and impact hub in a warmer climate — a place where we can teach, learn, and live in ways that support both people and the planet. A space to grow food, ideas, and futures rooted in justice, creativity, and resilience. If that vision speaks to you, maybe we’re meant to build something together.

I bring a mix of travel experiences, permaculture knowledge, and hands-on skills, along with insights into vegan living and self-sufficiency.
I'm also connected to Berlin’s nightlife and subculture scene, and I know some great spots in and around the city for exploring.

    Help

I have two locations in Berlin. One, a semi detached house and garden in the suburbs where I live and my allotment garden a 400m2 small urban food forest garden with a small house.

The most important support that I need is sharing the day-to-day responsibilities of the house and garden.

At the house there's always a wide variety of tasks to be done — from general cleaning and house maintenance to organizing, decluttering, and preparing unwanted items from decluttering to sell online. There's a room I'd like to transform into a guest space for travelers, but it needs a full renovation — removing old furniture, new flooring, repainting the walls.

Work in the garden depends on the season and includes watering, harvesting, wood chipping, and other general gardening tasks. Later in the summer, there will be some light construction projects both inside the house and around the garden.
If you're eager to grow your skills and understanding of self-reliant, conscious living — especially through the lens of permaculture design — then we’ll be a good match. I’m happy to share what I know, and extra hands, hearts, and minds are always welcome ;)

    Accommodation

The house is located in the suburbs of Berlin, about 45 minutes by public transport from the city center, near U Alt-Mariendorf. It comes with a peaceful garden and is currently home to three people. We speak only English in the house.

I’m looking for people who are either vegan or genuinely interested in transitioning to a vegan lifestyle—people who want to live more consciously and take part in building something meaningful from the ground up.

Accommodation is offered in a shared or private room, depending on what's available. If you're considering a longer stay, I'm also looking for flatmates! In addition to the main house, I’m working on a 400m² urban garden that I’m transforming into a small food forest, complete with a tiny house.
Both places are vegan and I ask anybody (friends and family) not to bring non-vegan food or drinks here. So there will only be vegan stuff here. ;) peace!

    What else ...

My favourite place and area in Berlin is just a 10 minute bike ride away, Tempelhofer Feld - the former airport that now is the largest inner city park of Europe and the bordering neighbourhoods of Neukölln with their colourful and bustling nightlife.
Just a little further you get to borough Kreuzberg that together with borough Neukölln are the most happening subcultural places in Berlin or in Germany really.
The is also a bus stop 170 & 277 & N77 just 3 minutes on foot and 8 minutes on foot to the subway U6. I'll have one spare bike that I can lend you so you are flexible to explore the city.
