    Description

    Hello, I'm Jorge
Four years ago, I started my project in Lagunas de Chacahua National Park and built my home in the middle of the island with the nature around it. I’m creating a organic guesthouse made of natural material and art aspects where I’m including different areas like botanical garden, relaxing area, dry toilets, green house, and the most important coliving with the nature . The main goals are to protect the nature reserve that we are living in by building friendly with the envirement and create a space for art, culture and sport with the help of visitors and volunteers.

Lagunas de Chacahua is a National Park on the cost of Oaxaca with a unique flora and fauna. On the one side you have the lagoon and on the other side the pacific. The Island Chacahua is inhabited by an afro-mexican community which is very welcoming and friendly.
Apart from that there are a lot of activities where you can see the bioluminecence or you can go surfing or hiking.
You will learn about ecological building and organic planting.
It is a place apart from the community which gives you the space for meditation and you can be surrounded by endemic nature.

    Help

I have a lot of plans for the future, but for now I need hands for planting, cleaning and building. With the help of the volunteers we just finished a “palapa” (wooden house with a palm leaf roof) by the beach and now want to decorate it.
I depend on non-renewable energy, which I use for pumping water and kitchen instruments.

I'm 10 minutes from the town with the colectivo that pases every hour.
We mostly work in the mornings or evenings because it’s just to hot during the day. You are free to visit the town, go swimming or use the comunal space for your own activities.
There is no ATM on the island, so bring as much cash as you think you will need. And be aware that internet access is very limited on the island.
