    Description

I love to travel and explore the world. When I was 17, I spent a year as an exchange student in Finland and somehow I ended up purchasing a little cottage in that same town 2 summers ago.

The indoor renovations have been a slow process but it's getting there. My neighbors/friends have been a great help along the way but as the seasonal window is small to get the yard taken care of, I could use a few extra hands (and knowledge!).

My cottage is quite rural. It's in a small little town about an hour from Turku and 2 hours from Helsinki.

The center is walking distance and the lake just a bike/car ride away. There isn't much going on, which is kind of the beauty of it all?

I can show you my favorite places and tell you about what I've learned about the country. I can help suggest thing for you to do. You'll be staying in a rural town where you'll get to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. If you're lucky, you might even be able to see the northern lights! There is a local sauna and lake nearby if you are interested in the most Finnish cultural experience you can get!

I however am not Finnish myself, so your stay will be more of a base to get to know the country rather than a place where I can share local customs. I have traveled extensively and have enjoyed being hosted all around the world and am excited to be able to be that person to others now.

  • Help

    Help

The yard is currently overgrown. I need help cleaning it up (replanting, weeding, levelling) making dump runs, picking up new shrubs/plants/trees, planting them. I'm going in with zero experience, just a vision. Ideally someone knowledgeable can assist me, but I'd appreciate the extra hands regardless.

I would expect the Workawayers to help half days. I'm open to it being mornings or afternoons.

    Accommodation

The house is in the last phases of a remodel. You will have a private sleeping space, but will have to share the bathroom. Hopefully by then the sauna will be working too!

You're welcoming to bring your own gear to camp outside if you're interested!

I will provide breakfast and the meal that follows your help hours. If you help mornings, I'll offer lunch and if you help afternoons, I'll provide dinner! There will be ingredients to assemble the other meals on their own.

I'm in the process of getting Starlink, it should be installed soon. Some loud work might need to be done indoors, but I can find you a quiet space to do work if that's important.
