    !!UPDATE!!
We, alongside many of our friends, were affected by the wildfires in the Serra da Gardunha.
We now need more immediate help and will also be on the farm for the most part the coming months to rebuild. Fortunately the living spaces, Gardens and almost all trees survived. Our waterlines got damaged and we are working now on a better system.
The main focus in the coming months will be works around firesafety, reforestation on the land and wider area (cutting invasive trees, planting fruit trees, growing grains, bringing in and caretaking of mountain-farm animals)
Now more than ever we need helping hands.

    Hello Plantlovers & Animalfriends!

We are living in beautiful, abundant nature in the portuguese mountainrange on the edge of the nature reserve Gardunha. 🌄
The main focus of our precious homeproject is to create a sustainable, off-grid, harmonious life to nurture us and the people in our lifes in and with nature.

We take care of over a hundred old and young fruittrees (olive, fig, apple, pear, plum, cherry, apricot, peach, quince, almonds, pistachio, hazelnut, chestnut and many more) and multiple vineyards.

Our newest exploration has been the creation of a few vegetable patches and herb garden. (corn, sweet:potato, aubergine, tomato, pumpkin, lettuce, carrots, artichokes, beans, peas etc.)

If you want to know more about us or are curious about our project DM us! 😊

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There is a small Village nearby with the traditional happenings, a restaurant and local shops for the essentials, a big lake, a church and free portuguese classes for foreigners in the community center. (5min by car, 15 by foot)

The bigger cities with multicultural events and festivities, museums, parks, restaurants, markets and all the shops (20-40 minutes by car).

Theres the Gardunha nature reserve with astonishing rock formations, natural springs and many other worthwhile places to visit.

On the Property itself you will mostly be embedded in wild, lush Nature with no direct neighbours.
Every now and then you might get a glimpse of a portuguese neighbour on the sandroad from the surrounding lands, passing by with sheep or wood, but theres no need to interact if you do not wish to.
It's the perfect spot for a little retreat from society, to go inward, to reflect and slow down.

From us you can learn the basics of permaculture gardening, cooking and preserving, wildfire prevention methods, beekeeping and what we know so far about the off-grid lifestyle.

We want to learn more about sustainable agriculture, fruitforests and communal living, nonviolent communication.
I would be very happy to practise my portuguese with a native speaker.

We are looking for Garden and petsitter(s).

    Your everyday caretaking can include:

    • watering the Gardens and checking the watering system for the young fruit and nut-trees and berries.
    • feeding the cats Leo& Yuki 🐱and the dog Maya 🐶
    • letting out/feeding the chicken 🐔
    • taking out blackberry and Acacia shoots in and around the garden terasses. 🌱
    • treat our living spaces with love and respect 🙏

Further if you feel inspired and motivated to do some small improvements or tasks here and there (in agreement with us) that is much appreciated, but not a must! Tasks like: cutting grass & invasive tree offshoots, harvesting and processing fruits, berries, cleaning the pool, hanging shading nets. And whatever your creative mind can come up with. Our main focus is to have you caretake of the home we built here during the times we are travelling. We are also interested in a land/farmsitting exchange. ☺️🌱
