Description
We are Jorge, Aléxia, and Merlin (our dog and the home’s loyal guardian). We live on-site and oversee daily activities, fostering a safe and collaborative environment. This is an ever-evolving family project focused on rural art and regenerative living, located in Vila Nova de Cerveira, in the Alto Minho region of northern Portugal, near the border with Galicia, Spain. Our property is a serene, nature-filled sanctuary, crossed by a river and surrounded by forest. The project is dedicated to organic and regenerative agriculture, soil restoration, conscious water management, and the strengthening of local biodiversity. We are currently developing our aromatic and medicinal plant gardens and are looking for help with the day-to-day maintenance of the house, gardens, and outdoor spaces.
This is a family project and is not operating as a business or engaging in commercial activities. We occasionally host cultural activities focused on community engagement and our relationship with the surrounding environment, usually during the spring and summer months. Workawayers will not be involved in commercial events or any business-related work. The exchange is exclusively focused on helping with the daily maintenance of our family home, gardens, and surrounding natural spaces. We look forward to welcoming people who enjoy nature, gardening, and a simple lifestyle, and who are interested in sharing experiences in a collaborative environment. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Cultural exchange unfolds organically through daily interactions, shared work, meals, and a life lived in harmony with nature. We are passionate about sharing our knowledge and experiences with our visitors. Depending on the time of year, life here offers wonderful opportunities to connect with the local land and community.

Help
We are looking for reliable and proactive volunteers who are enthusiastic about helping with the land and maintaining a clean environment. Most of our daily tasks are hands-on and take place outdoors. We host 1 to 2 volunteers at a time (we give preference to couples or pairs).
Caring for aromatic and medicinal herb gardens; clearing forest trails and maintaining pathways; and organizing garden areas. To ensure a harmonious community life, we also need help maintaining our shared spaces - this includes assisting with the organization of breakfast and the preparation of lunch and dinner, as well as keeping the kitchen, bathroom, and common areas clean, tidy, and organized on a daily basis. -

Accommodation
We offer a fully equipped and secure shared house on our property. The rooms are provided with pillows and appropriate bed linen. You will have access to a clean bathroom, complete with a hot-water shower, toilet, and sink, as well as a fully equipped kitchen for meal preparation. Volunteers have access to gardens, the riverbank, and designated areas for meditation and quiet reflection.
We ask that everyone takes care of their own space and contributes actively to keeping the common areas clean, tidy, and organized.
We host 1 to 2 volunteers at a time (with a preference for couples or pairs), ensuring a peaceful and high-quality experience for everyone.
We provide three meals per day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) - In our home, we are vegetarians, so we prioritize foods that align with this way of eating. Volunteers will have access to a fully equipped kitchen stocked with food, allowing them to prepare their own meals independently. Whenever possible, we will share meals together to enjoy the cultural exchange. In exchange for three daily meals and equipped accommodation, we ask for 5 hours of help per day (25 hours per week), with 2 days off. -
What else ...
To maintain a harmonious environment for everyone, we ask that guests respect our core guidelines: Quiet hours: From 10:00 PM onwards, to ensure a restful environment for all.
Strict policies: Parties and the use of drugs are not permitted; pets are not allowed.
As this project is focused on nature, we ask everyone to practice the conscious use of water and electricity, as well as responsible waste management.
Excellent access to public transport! The Vila Nova de Cerveira train and bus station is just a 10-minute walk from our property.

Can host digital nomads
We welcome digital nomads, provided they understand that this is primarily a volunteer experience focused on land-based activities and natural life. Internet access is available in specific areas of the property. As we are located in a rural area, the connection is sufficient for general tasks, though it may not be as fast or stable as what you might find in a large city. The environment is calm, quiet, and well-suited for work that requires focus—however, please keep in mind that we are a nature-oriented project, not a high-speed coworking space.

Space for parking camper vans
Depending on the time of year, we also provide space for camping or parking small vans. (Please note that we are located in a rural area and do not have electrical hookups for trailers/vans, nor do we have a disposal system for greywater.)
