East West Camp
Imagine a camp, with participants from dozens of different cities from all corners of Turkey.
Imagine a camp, with international participants from different countries, from Australia to China, from Ivory Coast to Mexico.
Since 2008, the East West Camp has been bringing together young people from all over the world, who have been working in volunteer projects in their localities, and who are part of the solution for where they live, in Izmir.
What's the goal of East-West Camp?

Young people from different backgrounds experience living together without the foreign language barrier, learning from each other and looking at life from different perspectives.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
The main idea of the camp is to learn from each other and intercultural dialogue. In the camp we have cultural night, presentation of your country or city. We have different activities for dialogue and produce new ideas. We will share out cultures, ideas, knowledge. Then it will be easier to understand that we have so many things to learn from anyone.
You will be on the board. So you will volunteer for Turkish participants to broaden their point of view, develope their self confidence. But you will gain new skills as well.Help
With the contributions of sister NGOs as well as our own financial and staff sources, we organize informal and
non-formal education for socially and economically disadvantaged youth for empowering them. We try to give
equal opportunities to low-income university students to participate in learning by doing. 15-20 university
students from different cities of Turkey will have a chance to experience intercultural learning & different
activities during this camp.
Including 2 coordination leaders, the majority of the group will be Turkish. Except for the leaders, the
group members might not able to speak any foreign languages.
We are looking for 5-6 foreign volunteers/counselors who are able to organize, run and lead activities for the
participants in different areas like practicing English, sport, drama, music, chess, indoor-outdoor games,
handicraft, dance, etc. They will be working together with 2 coordinators.
⮚ Volunteers must be at least 21 years old with experience in the above-mentioned activities or group
leading. Non-formal education experience is preferred.
⮚ As the level of English of the camp participants will be very low, the volunteers/counsellors should be
talkative, encouraging, communicative, patient, talented, and ready to teach.
