Welcome to Our Little Corner of the World!

5-Member Family Farm near the Black Forest, France & Switzerland!

    About our Family & Farm

We are a family of five living in the beautiful Kaiserstuhl region in Southwest Germany—one of the warmest and most scenic regions in the country, where Germany, France, and Switzerland meet.

Our family consists of dad (a freelance landscape manager), mom (a secondary school teacher), and our three daughters aged 19, 17 and 15. The girls love helping out on the farm, but with a busy property, there is still plenty left to do. Besides our jobs we run a horse boarding stable with around 20 horses. So it's always busy here, when the horse owners come to ride their horses.

We love producing our own food and therefore have some chicken and turkeys and a lovely vegetable garden. We don’t sell any products of our farm. All we harvest is for our own consumption, so it’s not a business, just a way of living our dream. In winter we only heat the house with our own firewood.
After years of traveling, we love welcoming people from abroad, exchanging cultures and experiences.
    The Volunteer Help We Need
We are looking for two energetic and motivated Workawayers to join our team. Your tasks will be varied and outdoor-focused, perfect for nature and animal lovers.

    Help includes:
    • Property Maintenance: Lawn mowing, gardening, and maintaining our beautiful outdoor areas.
    • Farm Upkeep: Fence repairs, general maintenance, and helping prepare firewood for the colder months.
No professional experience is required, but a positive attitude, maybe a love for horses, and physical fitness for outdoor farm work are highly valued!

    Accommodation & Food
As for your personal space — we've set up a beautiful, spacious tent that's a little more glamping than camping. Think cozy, think character, think mornings with birdsong, fresh air and a scenic view of the nearby Kaiserstuhl.
There will be also enough space to park your campervan on our property if you wish to.
We're a friendly and open-hearted family who genuinely love having new people around our table — and in our lives. Whether you're a devoted meat lover, a passionate vegetarian, or somewhere happily in between, you'll feel right at home at our table. We cook with enthusiasm and creativity, and we believe a good meal is one of the best ways to connect across cultures. Expect hearty dinners, lots of laughter at the table, and the occasional kitchen experiment that turns out surprisingly well.
We eat our meals together, and you are welcome to hang out with us in the main house and garden. We love sharing good food and great conversations!

You'll have everything you need to start your day right, including a proper breakfast setup right in our own “Saloon/Irish Pub” (party room) — so you can enjoy your coffee and your first meal of the day in peace before the day kicks off.
We're excited to share our home, our food, and our corner of the world with you. Come as a helper, leave as a friend. 🍞☕🌄

    Fun, Culture & Leisure Time
Our region is fantastic for exploring! In your free time, you can:
    • Relax at a beautiful swimming lake just a short distance from the farm.
    • Take trips to France (Alsace) or Switzerland, both of which are just a short drive or train ride away.
    • Visit the famous Black Forest region and enjoy the beautiful landscape.
    • Hike or bike through the famous vineyards and volcanic hills of the Kaiserstuhl or along the river Rhine and look over to France.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying on our farm is more than just helping with daily tasks – it is an opportunity to experience local culture and become part of our way of life. We are open-minded people who enjoy meeting guests from different backgrounds and learning about their cultures, traditions, and perspectives.

At the same time, we like to share our own culture and everyday life. One of the most natural ways this happens is through food. Preparing and enjoying meals together gives us the chance to introduce local recipes, seasonal ingredients, and family traditions, while also discovering dishes and cooking styles from other parts of the world.

Cultural exchange can also take place beyond the farm. Depending on the time of year, Workawayers may join us at local village festivals, community events, or excursions in the surrounding region. As we live close to an international border, there may even be opportunities to visit a neighboring country and experience another culture firsthand.

We believe that cultural exchange is a two-way process. While we are happy to share our traditions and lifestyle, we are equally interested in learning from our guests. We enjoy hearing stories, discovering new customs, trying new foods, and being inspired by different ways of living. Our goal is to create an atmosphere where everyone can learn from each other and leave with new experiences, friendships, and perspectives.
As you will join us during the work we have to do you will always share our knowledge in gardening, taking care for horses and much more.
Help us to make our little paradise a place you might wish to come back to one day and help us developing our farm.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Workawayers will stay in two spacious tents located on our farm. Depending on your preferences, you can either use one tent as a sleeping area and the other as a living space, or two guests can stay separately, with each person having their own tent.

The tents are comfortably equipped with beds, bedding, a table, chairs, and various other items to make your stay pleasant and cozy. We want our guests to feel at home while enjoying the experience of living close to nature.

Although camping is part of the experience, we understand that weather conditions can sometimes be challenging. In case of very bad weather or prolonged periods of rain, we will do our best to arrange a suitable alternative accommodation option. We want our guests to enjoy their stay, whatever the weather may bring.
There is a shower and toilet you are welcome to use next to our party room.
If you travel with your own campervan, there will be enough space for parking your van.

We provide 3–4 meals per day and enjoy sharing mealtimes as an important part of family life on our farm.

Breakfast is always available and can be enjoyed either independently or together with the family, depending on your preference and the day's schedule.

Our main meal is usually a warm lunch, which is often a lively family gathering. Most days, the whole family eats together, and it is not unusual for grandparents or friends of our children to join us at the table. These meals offer a great opportunity to experience everyday life, practice languages, and enjoy conversations in a relaxed atmosphere.

In the evening, we typically enjoy a traditional Southwest German-style dinner ("Vesper"). This usually consists of fresh bread, cold cuts, cheese, spreads, salads, and a variety of other tasty local specialties. It is a simple but cherished tradition and a wonderful way to end the day together.

We see shared meals as an important part of the cultural exchange and are always happy to introduce our guests to local food traditions while also learning about dishes and customs from their home countries
