    Description

I am an elder living on four acres in the Cowichan Valley, BC Canada. My husband and I need some extra help due to our age and my mobility handicap. We have a rain forest trail that ends on our property along Oliver Creek and it takes you 12 minutes to walk to downtown Lake Cowichan coming out at Country Grocer. We are a one hour drive from the cities of Victoria, Nanaimo or Port Renfrew. Duncan is 20 minutes away. There are bike and hiking trails, and within walking distance to swim in the river or lake, or tube down the Cowichan River. The accommodations are a tent, a holiday trailer or a pump house. Our extended family members come to visit and some live with us in our farm house when not working away. We are Vipassana meditators and another meditator lives in a rental cabin on the property. We are only 25 minutes away from a place where we take silent retreats, and help to serve.
We have a fenced garden with fruit trees that I need help with. We have a small mill that saws up logs. We need help to build a wood shed and to fill it for winter fire wood. We like to keep the grounds free as much as possible from invasive plants like broom, black berries, and daphne. We recently built a solar shed that needs siding completed. We have a fellow meditator who lives in Myanmar and stores his belongings on the property and comes to visit once a year. We wish to build a hoop house to grow food in and have more garden areas developed. The property has a salmon bearing stream. Elk and Bear come by weekly. There are cougar in the area. We hear Frogs in the spring, Eagles and Owls year round. There are wild fruit trees and bushes we harvest as well as herbs like Nettles and St Johns wort. Being in the middle of the south end of Vancouver Island we have very little snow or freezing weather. It is a green countryside most of the year.

As we have a senior handicapped cat any pets would have to respect the cats space and get along with it.
