    Description

We are a family living in community and working at THE local Aboriginal Art Centre, which is a not-for-profit organisation. We live on Luritja country in Haasts Bluff. I, 'Chrischona', manage the art centre with my partner Christian; we live with our son Benjamin in the community.

The art centre was established in 1992. It is a busy studio place with 45 member artists who access the art centre. The art centre creates independent incomes for the artists in this remote location through employment at the art centre and sales of the works of art.

My partner and I run the organisation on behalf of the local community. Due to our busy schedules we need someone to help with playing with our son and looking after our garden.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Living and working in an Indigenous community is an amazing and beautiful opportunity that you will only get once in a lifetime. The art centre is such an important part of the Haasts Bluff community, and by spending time there, you’ll be able to learn so much about the culture and country from the wonderful community members who work and create there. And let me tell you, the desert sunrises and sunsets are truly breathtaking - they really add an extra layer of beauty to this already incredible experience.

Hi there! We are currently looking for open-minded and energetic volunteers to work as an Au Pair to care for our 5-year-old son during work hours, preferably in the morning. This little boy is a bundle of joy; his imagination and adventures will keep you on your toes. There will also be some light housework involved in this role.

In addition to this position, we need support to help with gardening and maintaining the grounds. You'll be working closely with the artists and other arts workers in the community while performing these tasks.

As part of these roles, we may ask you to stretch and prime canvases, mix paints, clean and maintain the studio, pack products, and manage the website store admin.

If you're interested in either of these positions, please don't hesitate to contact us!
