Description
Hi! We have a small hostel in the city of San Luis Potosí! We are right downtown, so its pretty easy to move around. Also, the city itself is quite close to Real de Catorce and Xilitla is right at the Huasteca Potosina, beautiful places that you can explore on a quick get-away. You will be needed to help out welcoming and assisting guests as well as prepare some activities for the guests.
Types of help and learning opportunities
Help around the houseHospitality/TourismGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
We want people to know our city, our state and our country and fall in love with it. We prepare activities for the guests to do just that: embrace our culture. From the mexican breakfasts we prepare to local candy, dancing night, and so on! We want out volunteers to help out and enjoy them as well!
Help
We need people to help welcome our guests and assisting them as much as possible, especially with how our hostel works and what they can see/do in the city. For that, we give you a very good intro tour!
We also need you to help keeping the hostel clean and the beds ready. We ask for 20 hours a week split between a maximum of 4 consecutive days (you can make it three and have more days off). We also take turns to watch the door at night. People don't need to stay up, we unplugged the phones after 11 pm and everyone has door code with access 24 hours. We just take turns in case a guests arrives late at night which doesn't happen very often. As travellers, we believe is not nice when for whatever reason you arrive later than expected and the hostel doesn't open the door.
When we have too many volunteers for reception, other tasks available are helping at our bar, maintenance/construction, and help with internet, marketing and publicity.
Minimum stay is 2 weeks. We need you to be able to hold a phone conversation in spanish.Languages

What else ...
To explore San Luis you need no more than your own feet.
San Luis is a lovely city with a great history and architecture. Local brewery is on the rise and with very interesting proposals. Around the city there's also plenty to see and you're just a few hours away from some hidden mexican gems, from ghost towns in the middle of the desert to stunning waterfuls deep in the jungle.A little more information

Estuve aquí por tres meses, pero es muy difícil describir mi experiencia en palabras. El lugar es genial, pero lo que lo hace tan especial son las personas: me sentí aceptado, acogido y en familia desde el principio.
