    Description

Hello, My name is Rachel. My girlfriend (Maria) and I are in the process of fixing up an old farm in rural Piedmont that we bought last year. We are setting up an organic permaculture based farm using regenerative agriculture techniques and principals. We already have a beautiful no-dig vegetable garden and quite a few hazelnut and fruit trees, from which we make jams, compotes and other conserves. We are currently preparing spaces for chickens, goats and sheep. We make our own soaps and cosmetics and we prepare our food mainly with products that come from our garden or from neighboring farms.

Our farm is outside the village of Roccaverano (famous for Robiola goat cheese) in Southern Piedmont. We are in a beautiful semi-isolated position tucked away in nature. There are many deer, venison, rabbits and other wildlife that visit our farm.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are very open minded people that like to get to know other people and their cultures. We are happy to cook together (either inside or outside on the wood burning stove or bbq). There are many organic farms and medieval villages that you can visit on your days off.

  • Help

    Help

Like on most farms, there is a vast amount and a wide variety of projects to tackle. Of course help with the garden and out on the fields would be fab, and of course, we would share what we have learned about no-dig, organic gardening with you.

In addition to the garden, we are looking to: paint the barn, build shelving for vegetable storage in the cellars, build mobile chicken coops, clear paths in the woods, clear small trees in an abandoned part of the property that used to be used for growing wheat, set up rainwater recuperation systems, dig a small pond, prepare firewood for winter, plant more fruit and nut trees, etc..

So if you have skills and / or interest in any of these areas, we would love to hear from you.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have private bedrooms with a shared bathroom in an old rural stone farmhouse immersed in nature and surrounded by green meadows, rolling hills and forests. While there are no "amazing views" directly from the bedrooms, there are panoramic views from the garden and beautiful nature experiences throughout the property.

We also have space for a camping car if you prefer.

We provide home cooked meals from local and organic products that we can prepare together and share washing up responsibilities. :)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The region is very scenic with lush green hills and meadows and panoramic views. There are many hiking trails to be explored and the area is famous for hazelnuts, truffles, cheese and wine.

Our home is full of positive energy and it is important to us to host open minded positive people. Together we can maintain a nice atmosphere and a house full of joy, respect and positivity.

It is probably best to come via car, as we are a bit secluded. We can, however, pick you up from the train station 4km away, but if you want to spend time discovering the region or making day trips, you should have your own transportation.

The sea is one hour away. Turin and Genova and Alba are also day trip possibilities.

There is no smoking in the house or at the dinner table if eating outside.

We count on you - that you support us with a positive honest attitude.
And you can count on us - that you will have your own space and we are always happy to help you and see you - as who you are.
    It will be fun!
