    Description

    Hello beautiful people!
My name is Shine. Welcome to my off-grid project in the Portuguese countryside.
I live here with my cats in a peaceful, quiet valley, focused on building a sustainable lifestyle, growing food, and enjoying a simpler routine in nature.
This is a space to slow down, unplug, and connect with the land.

I ask for a minimum stay of one month because it makes a big difference in the energy flow of the land.
If you are available for a month, we can start with a one-week trial to see if everything works out well for both of us. If you only have a couple of weeks available, it is better to choose another host so you can get the best experience out of your travels.
    Thank you! :)

I live in a quiet valley, but it isn't isolated. A scenic 20 minute walk with beautiful views of the Serra da Estrela mountains takes you to a small, traditional village. It’s very quiet, but it has a fresh water fountain, a restaurant, a little bar/cafe with a pool table, perfect for a local coffee or drink.

What you can experience & learn:

Off-grid living: See how a solar-powered property runs daily, including water conservation and mindful resource management.

Basic gardening: Get hands-on with standard garden tasks such as making beds, weeding, planting, and irrigation. It’s steady, basic work, but very grounding if you enjoy being in nature.

Light woodworking: Help out with basic building maintenance and small DIY projects, mostly working with wood.

    Getting Around:
With a car (Recommended for exploring):
You can easily visit the stunning Serra da Estrela and Gardunha mountains, local river beaches, swimming dams, farmers' markets, and the historic village of Monsanto.

Without a car (Recommended for chilling):
The local train station is a 15-minute walk away with a few connections a day. It's a peaceful countryside schedule, so if you don't have wheels, this spot is best if you love a relaxed routine, local walks, reading, and unwinding on the land.
Note that internet here is limited, so it's a great opportunity to truly unplug!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

There are 2 cozy mobile homes for sleeping, Lupita and Louis.
In the summertime, there are also plenty of shaded spots if you prefer camping with a tent or a hammock.

I provide basic food and groceries. In return, I ask for 4 hours of help a day, 5 days a week. This leaves your afternoons completely free to relax, and you will have 2 full days off to yourself.
There is a basic kitchen at your service for preparing meals.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

You are welcome to arrive on any day of the week! However, I do prefer if you can plan to arrive before sunset so we can get you settled in while it's still light out.

I can pick you up from the bus or train stations in Fundão, or from the Fatela-Penamacor train station (which is also just an easy 15-minute walk from the land). Just let me know your schedule ahead of time so we can coordinate!

Note: Since I cover all the groceries, you don't need to worry about shopping before you get here, but if there are any specific personal snacks or treats you love, feel free to grab them in town before heading out to the land.

You are welcome to work on your projects during your free time, but please keep in mind that we are off-grid and our internet connection is limited. If your work relies on high-speed Wi-Fi, constant video calls, or uploading large files, this won't be the right fit. However, if your work is flexible, offline-friendly, or runs easily on basic mobile data, you are more than welcome!

    Space for parking camper vans

You are welcome to bring your camper, but please note that the access road and turns leading into the land are narrow. It is not suitable for large vehicles. If your campervan is longer than 6 meters, exceptionally wide, or very high, you will have trouble making the tight turns to get in. Please double-check your vehicle dimensions with me before booking!
