I had a lovely time helping out Terry with the horses. He is very knowledgeable and a great source to build experience from. His family are really friendly and made me feel incredibly welcome. I would definitely recommend a strong foundation with horses and you need to feel comfortable handling them otherwise you won't be too helpful as this is

I planed to stay 3 weeks at Terrys farm, but because a lot of miscommunication inside the house between Terry, his partner Mildrid and us workawayers (me and another French couple) the atmosphere was partly tense and separating. On my last day after one week being there (where I decided to leave) I experienced Terry being unfair towards me. Mainly
… read more I felt accused of not caring enough about the house and not telling him from the beginning for being not experienced with horses, what in fact I wrote in my request.
I came with a very positive mindset, wanting to help, trying to learn and to adapt inside the house, and learn more about the horses, being respectful and caring a lot about their wishes towards how the house should look like, but obviously it was not enough. So I agreed with Terry and left the farm after one week, together with the other workawayers.
But not everything was negativ. Despite the last day and the seperating atmosphere in the house, I liked the work, and the place itself. I also liked to play with Mildrids daughter in the beginning and felt first of all quiet comfortable in the house and with everyone. Terry can be, friendly and helpful and is caring a lot about every ones safety near the horses.
So the turn of the events surprised and shocked me as well.
So If you are not very sensitive, you are super clean, and you are experienced with horses. This might be according to the last references still a good place. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I worked at Terry's farm for 3 months and had a really good time. I had my own room and shared bathroom with other workawayers. We took turns in cleaning duties, cooking and stable duties Sunday morning.
If you are willing to learn Terry can teach you a lot about horses in general, racing and the aussie culture. Terry and I made a great team

All horses are very easy to handle but I'd say horse experience and confidence around horses is a necessity, so if you love horses, are hardworking and can think for yourself you'll love the job.You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I stayed with Terry for about 6 weeks from May until July and had a fab time! I loved taking care of his beautiful horses and could improve my horsemanship lots especially in the context of handling foals. Both Terry and Jack were very knowledgeable and great at explaining how and why things are done. The atmosphere was always very laid back and I

I had an opportunity to meet Terry and I spend a special time. At first I wanted to stay for 10days but ended up staying a month.
I didn't have experience of animal care, but they taught me and horse was kind.
Terry had a lot of travel in the world. I enjoyed his story. I met Jack who working here is very nice and funny person. And I met some

The beautiful ocean is beyond the road. It is very beautiful. We went to there with dog and play a lot. What an amazing location.
The location is 7~8min drive from local town. I went to Busselton from Perth by bus, and they picked me up at town.
You'd better to prepare that work boots or rain boots if you have. Because we do shower for horses, so definitely get wet and get sands. But you can borrow if there is your size.
The house has plenty of room and everyone stay private room that was comfy.
The best my impressed scene that was birth of baby horse. You may have a chance to see it. The baby is very very cute!
Thank you very much. I hope to see you again in the future(^^)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
