Description
We are family with two small kids and a dog and we are starting a new chapter in the norwegian countryside. We got a small forgotten farm which has not been used for 20 years and we want to bring life into it. We have both other jobs meanwhile and the kids go to the kindergarten most days, but we get to do some work on the farm bit by bit every day and also go for a walk with the dog every day.
Now in the spring 2025 we are going to repair the main house for living and we should move there during the summer. We are planning to also welcome a flock of sheep on the farm this autumn, so they can start with the pasture. Other animals will follow.
We used to travel a lot, but we have slowed down now little bit, and want to try to grow some food and try to live more connected to one place which provides the food and all we need. Water is coming from a well up in the forest, firewood and grass all around, in the summer the forest is full of blueberries and lingonberries. Also wildlife. We would like to invite you to this little paradise. But only if you don't mind rain. And mud. Since is Norway and near the sea, the weather can be quite not so friendly. So you can have pretty cold and wet weather even in the summer. Or not. It’s just pure luck and best is not to worry about it and keep going out anyway. The kids here are used to play in the rain and mud and they are so happy. One just needs to flush them with a hose when picking them up from the kindergarten :-D
Anyway good rainproof clothing is recommended. Other than that you just need a good mood and bit of an adventurous spirit to come all the way here. (although we will most likely pick you up at the airport in Trondheim).Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We can show you around, do trips together and teach you a bit about animals (I work as a veterinarian).
Its possible to show you sea kayaking, fishing, and best spots for hiking around.
We are used to host people through couchsurfing, warmshowers and housitting and so far it was great experience so I hope we will continue meeting interesting people also while repairing and running the farm.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
Helping with house maintenance.
Farm related help such as petting and taking care of the sheep and chickens (thats planned for autumn and onward) , preparing firewood for the winter.
Learning how to dry hay in a traditional norwegian way (manually) by hanging it on the ropes (July)… if there is any more then 1 day of sun.
Enjoying berries and mushrooms in the forest and possibly collecting some.
Taking care of the plants in the glasshouse (mainly tomatoes).
Many things to choose from, depends on what you are interested in doing and learning and trying.
Also if you are into cooking or playing with kids, there is always something to do. Our kids love to play with visitors and volunteers. Families with own kids are welcome to apply.Languages

We are multilingual family, as I am from Czech Republic, my husband from Romania and our kids are born here :) We communicate mostly in English, but it is possible to learn some norwegian here (especially from our kids). We are trying to improve our Spanish.Accommodation
Depending on the month and weather there will be a guest room in the house available (thats ca 7 km from the farm) or a camping trailer with heating, electricity and own kitchen at the farm. Both places will have internet.
As common in Norway, main meal is usually in the evening. Help with the cooking or cooking turnuses expected (means you might be cooking some of the days, and I will be cooking some). We are not vegetarians as thats difficult in Norway, but we don't eat meat every day.
We will help you with the shopping and transport if you need anything special. It is possible to go fishing. What else ...
