Description
We are a Norwegian-American family consisting of Melissa (from Florida, USA), Rune (from Denmark), our children Joy and Noah, and Mishka, our friendly husky.
We have hosted many wonderful Workawayers over the years, and some have become close friends and even returned to stay with us again. For us, Workaway is not just about help—it's about cultural exchange, shared experiences, and building friendships around the world.
Our home base is a beautiful lakeside property surrounded by nature in Norway. We also love travelling and are currently creating a lifestyle that allows us to spend time in different places, including Spain. Long-term Workawayers may have the opportunity to join us on some of these adventures and experience more than one place with our family.
We welcome both short-term and long-term Workawayers. Ideally, we would love to find someone interested in staying longer and becoming part of our family life, but we are equally happy to hear from people who can only stay for a shorter period.
We are looking for kind, positive, and easy-going people who enjoy family life, nature, travel, and meeting people from different cultures.

Living with our family offers a unique blend of Norwegian, Danish, and American cultures. You'll experience authentic Scandinavian family life, share meals and traditions with us, and learn about our way of living, values, and culture.
We love meeting people from around the world and learning about their cultures in return. Over the years, many of our Workawayers have become close friends, and some have even returned to stay with us again.
You'll have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful Norwegian nature, life by the lake, outdoor activities, and, depending on the season and our travel plans, possibly experience other places with our family as well.

Accommodation
Depending on the season and where we are staying, you will have your own private room in our home. In Norway, we live on a beautiful lakeside property surrounded by nature. We aim to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment where Workawayers feel at home and become part of the family.

Our home is surrounded by beautiful Norwegian nature, with forests, lakes, mountains, and endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. In your free time, you can go hiking, swimming, fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply relax by the lake.
We have paddleboards, a rowboat, bikes, and plenty of local trails to explore. Depending on the season, you may also join us for family activities, campfires, day trips, and other adventures.
We can often lend a car for local trips, and we're happy to help with transportation to the train station if you'd like to explore more of Norway. Long-term Workawayers may also have the opportunity to join us on some of our travels and experience different places with our family.
