Description
Welcome to our home and beautiful little paradise.
We are in the making of a retreat center dedicated to regenerative farming, indigenous cultures, native wisdom, music and art, ecological living, community life, permaculture and living in harmony with nature.
We are a family of musicians, gardeners, dreamers and vision keepers who wish to create a beautiful sanctuary for the heart, mind and soul. We have been on this land since June 2022, and we are still in the start up phase of what we want to create here. In the last years we have been building buildings, planting fruit trees, keeping a kitchen garden, installed solar panels, built a dry toilet, started home-schooling, and much more. This year we are busy with building a new round guesthouse, a greenhouse, planning a World School Hub, making a natural swimming pool, and prepare spaces for livestock (next step). In a not so far future, we see there being goats, sheep, chicken, and a couple of horses grazing our fields. We also want to keep going with growing our own food, vegetable gardens, bee-keeping, fruit forests, building more accommodations, expanding the infrastructure, building a better drainage system for our wet field, building a sauna, more flowers, work the land in many ways. Also to savior those golden moments of lush peace and calm in the garden.
Our home is located in 30 min from Arendal in Southern Norway. The land is very peaceful and absolutely beautiful. We are blessed with large outdoor areas, large flower meadows and birch-, oak- and pine forests. There are two beautiful lakes on our land, one is perfect for swimming. Here we live with wildlife such as moose, deer, eagle and hare as our closest neighbours. There are beavers and trouts in the river. We are a multi-cultural family, with owners Anna from Norway and Alberto from Mexico, with our two young daughters, aged 4 and 8. We speak Norwegian, English and Spanish together. We also have a very kind and charming Samojed dog, and two bengal cats. This summer there are another 3 families staying on our land, 1 WorkAway family and two families renting space for their TinyHomes. As we have retreats or gatherings several times a month, there are often more people around in the summer time. We have two big tipis, a sweat lodge and 13 large glamping tents. We also have a large barn that serves as a community house. The barn has a community kitchen, communal showers/toilets, washing machine, event room with projector to be used by visitors and guests. We are musicians and there is often live music around. The land is about 7 hectars. We have a lake for swimming. We hope to have a sauna in place before winter.
We are easy-going, hard-working, life-loving, family-oriented, open-minded, open-hearted, fun-loving people.
We are hoping to connect with good people :)

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Our center is a hub for ecological and community living, for study of indigenous wisdom, for music, dance and art, and a family friendly place where we enjoy to create a small version of the world we ideally would want for our children and future generations. We receive indigenous healers, teachers and wisdom keepers from all of the world as our guests, who come here to hold different retreats and cultural exchange programs - we believe the indigenous elders are those we need to listen to and learn from in order to understand a little bit more about life and how to restore humanity's lost connection with nature.
For people with an interest in such matters would of course benefit massively. We also work with music and dance, as well as other wellness activities, through these external retreats. For the right person, a stay with us here we could provide an opportunity to study the native ways of Norse shamanic traditions, and also traditional native cultures from the Americas, from Siberia, from Greenland, from Africa and Australia. We are also blessed to have an amazing group of people that stay at the center, and our little tribe is just like coming home for the right person. There is lots to learn about gardening, bio-construction, bee-keeping, sweat lodge, to learn about Norse and Mexica and tipi culture, about magic, bees, life, music, dance and of course also meeting our interesting people from all over the world.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We are looking for people who have experience helping with their hands and that are ready to make an effort for our lovely place in the woods. We need people who have handy skills and can help lift this place up to its fullest potential through small DIY projects and/or helping Alberto on the land etc. You might also be asked to help around the house with cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, gardening, organizing spaces, painting, weeding, lawn mowing, etc. There is a lot to do on a farm, always :)
We have an amazing place that we want to take good care of and develop, so we want people that have a positive attitude, who can work on their own initiative, who has a passion for sustainability and nature, who are kind to people and animals and that are efficient in their help.
We are very happy to have couples/families as well as individuals. Write us a message and explain a little bit about yourself, your talents, your skills and what you would like us to know.
We want to emphasize that even though we love people, we also have need for just-us time and are not always super social. In the summer time there are people coming and going a lot. We have at least one dinner together each week.
We are looking for people who can stay at least 3-4 weeks. We are flexible and open to negotiate solutions. Contact us for more info.

Oh yes, the climate. So we have four seasons, each of which has its beauty and its charm. Winter months (November-March) are cold, dry and dark. It will be snow, ice, and sometimes we see Aurora Borealis.
Spring months April/May are sunny and warm in the sun, but still has quite fresh air.
Summer months June-August/September are warm, the midnight sun shines all night, we are in shorts and t-shirt and sunbathing. Swimming in the enchanting forest lakes is something we do any time of the year.
