    Description

My name is Kerstin. On our farm live two dogs, one of them is really old , the other is walking on three legs. We also have an old sensitive horse, which had really bad experiences in the past and a young pony.

I am trying to manage all the work by myself beside my job as a teacher, my children Mina (23) and Darius (24) are studying in different cities and not always at home any more. So I would need some help with the general work at home, in the garden and with the animals.

From spring to autumn we need a lot of help with maintaining our large garden (cutting trees, mowing the lawn, collecting branches, picking weeds, oiling and painting wood, sweeping,…) and our vegetable patch.

I also need help with the household (cooking, laundry and cleaning).
We eat a lot of vegetables (some are grown in our garden) , my daughter is vegan, so it would not be a problem if you are too. If you’re not vegetarian though, you would still have to be okay with eating very little meat (1* week or less).

We would be very grateful if we find help (feeding, cleaning stable, paddocks and pasture, brushing the horses etc.)., too.

If you enjoy the peace on the countryside, are an animal lover and like the work on a farm please write us a message!

People who are interested in a longer stay are welcome. There you will get the possibility to improve your German. We would share our language knowledge with you.

You would also learn a lot about animals (also taking care of old and sick animals) and farm life (growing crops, gardening, etc.)

We are situated in the countryside directly next to the forest and surrounded by many fields. You can discover a lot of wildlife like deers, birds, squirrels, etc. There is a bike route to Petershagen which is the next village and the route along the river, Weser, which passes along here is known to be the most beautiful in the whole of Germany.
It takes 10 minutes with the train to Minden, a lovely nice town, 50 min to Hannover. Also the Steinhuder lake is nearby.

People who smoke, drink or take drugs are not welcome.
As well as it is essential that you're not afraid of (large farm) animals and physically hard work (yes, the work is going to be hard!) The tasks are spread throughout the day. The animals are expected to be fed on the weekends too. Nothing for city people who are scared to get their hands dirty. But for us and hopefully you too, it is a reward itself, just seeing how the animals appreciate everything you do for them.

Please note that we generally host people who apply for the animal help for at least two months because it takes time for the animals to get used to you and for you to get to know the routine.

If you have read this far, it would be great if you would include your favourite meal in your application
Thank you for taking the time to read our whole profile and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to send us a message. We are looking forward to meeting you.

  • Help

    Help

    - Help in the garden like mowing the lawn, cutting tree branches, weeding, water the plants

    - Help with the housework (cleaning, organising, laundry)

    - Do some other tasks on the farm. There is always something to do here.

    - Take care of our animals (horses and dogs). So you must enjoy the animals’ company. You’re out of place if you consider being with animals as work and are counting the hours you spend with them. But if you’re an animal lover like us, and enjoy to give them the love they didn’t get before they came to us, you’re exactly right here!

    - Cooking (preferably plant based), we don't need a master chef- It is alright if you know how to cook some basic things like pasta and vegetables

    - Other abilities are welcome, we cherish every person who helps with different tasks and so adds in their own way to make our home more special.
