We had a great time staying with Christine and Tyler in February. They were super nice and welcoming and made us feel comfortable from the first moment on.
We stayed in their new house while they were still living in the old one, we had a lot of space with our own bathroom which was really nice. Our work consisted of different tasks to help
… read more Christine and Tyler with moving. We did some painting and packed boxes to transport them from one house to the other. Apart from that, we were checking the chicken coop for eggs and feeding the horses. The best task we had was to walk the dogs, Thor and Carter are just the best and always made our day better. All of the work was easy and Tyler and Christine always made sure we knew exactly what to do.
The food was delicious and they went out of their way to prepare all their meat separately as the both of us are vegetarian. Tyler even got us a meatless alternative so that we wouldn’t miss out which was so nice. We got to try new dishes too, the burger bowls were definitely our favourite!
Whenever something was going on, Christine and Tyler always asked us if we wanted to tag along, so we got to see a Highschool basketball game, went to Red Deer and came along to multiple potlucks which was a lot of fun. Christine even went on a drive with us to look for wild horses. We didn’t find those, but saw many moose.
In the evenings, our usual pastime was to play Mexican train which neither of us had played before, but it is easy to learn and super fun . We got really competitive at times which was really entertaining.

We both had the most INCREDIBLE time at Christine and Tyler’s beautiful ranch. Christine, thankyou for trying your hardest to find us some wildlife to see. We finally got to see a Moose, Elk and Deer.
They are both the most golden hearted people we have ever met, both our birthdays were made so incredibly special whilst we were there and we are so thankful for that. We were also taken to lots of different events happening near them, we were never bored! Definitely going to miss both dogs and the horses, maybe not Belinda the chicken so much lol.

Luckily, Christine contacted us on Workaway and we got to experience two weeks at their beautiful farm. Right from the beginning, it felt like we were part of the family. Tyler even bought some Austrian beer which made us even feel more at home. We enjoyed our conversations and also loved the crib games with Ruth.

… read more easy-going with the work. We helped with feeding the chickens, the two dogs Thor and Carter, the horses Tucker and Midnight and the cats. We cleaned out the chicken coop, roadtotillered their garden, cooked couple of times, painted their basement, raked the gravel from under the deck and took the dogs for walks. They have really cool trails right in their backyard.
We spent the first week altogether and house-/petsitted the second week as they visited family in BC.
During our stay, we slept in their nice trailer and had our own bathroom in the house.
Christine went on a small roadtrip with us and we were lucky to see wild horses. We had a bonfire on our last evening and got to see amazing Northern lights.

I could go on and on about how great they were. I hope that they have many great experiences in Canada and get their perfect jobs for winter :-) We miss you already!

This place was our first Workaway experience in Canada and we couldn't have wished for a better place. Staying with Christine, Tyler and their son Jaden was like staying with family. They even took some of their time to help us with our Canadian paperwork.

In addition to that, the place itself was beautiful and full of wildlife (moose in the backyard, deers, coyotes, hummingbirds, squirrels...).

… read more making when I get home. The property they live on is great with lots of animals and wildlife around, there is also plenty of trails in the woods to explore. Work is never too intense and they were very laid back about it, Tyler was always willing to teach me anything I didn't know and I was able to learn a lot. They all try to make sure you have a good experience and are not just there to work. Overall I has an incredible time with them and it was very memorable experience, you will not be disappointed if you stay with them.
