Description
Hi Workawayers, we are Marie-Paule and Paul, both in our 60s and 70s, and are looking for someone to help us with gardening!
We live in an old manor house (1840), with an English Garden and ecological vegetable garden, in the north of Belgium, close to the coast (about 10km) and nearby the old historical city center of Bruges (11km). We are both passionate about gardens, and work in the garden on a daily base. Paul - as a landscape architect - designed and built the garden himself, and since its construction in the 1980s, the garden has grown enormously, as has the work (while we are starting to shrink). So please come and join us this summer and have a nice stay in our house and learn something about gardening, botanics, organic maintenance or how to design a garden!
We produce all vegetables, fruits and herbs ecologically, to prepare the meals for the Workawayers and for our family. We have a big vegetable garden, green house, an orchard, and some animals like sheep and chickens. We can use all kinds of help, in the field, the garden and the greenhouse, depending the season and the weather. We provide accomodation, meals and drinks. We have one room available, with a double bed and a private bathroom.
We prefer people who stay for at least 5 days.Types of help and learning opportunities

We are happy to share our passion and knowledge about gardening, plants, how to care for them and how to best create a garden. Paul has worked his entire life as a landscape architect, and has been teaching for several years in landscape design and architecture.

Help
Update: For September/October 2024 we are mainly looking for someone who can help us with one or more of the following works: paintwork (some exterior doors), restoration of an old brick garden wall, construction of a garden shed (new roof for shed), some reparations of fences and preparing the plants for winter (pruning).
We would like to have help with gardening (maintenance and new constructions), watering the plants, feeding the animals, trimming hedges, cutting wood and preparation of meals (harvesting and cooking).
We will usually work together, the work will be explained and demonstrated in detail (experience is not a requirement).

The area is lovely for biking, you can use a bike to go to the sea (10km) or Bruges (11km); or just do a bike tour whenever you feel like. The garden is always at your disposal, as well as the pont for a refreshing plunge!
