  We are formed by a group of motivated, creative entrepreneurs, builders, farmers and artists.
  
  We like to offer solutions for our contemporary consumer society.
  
  We manage a domain in Melle of approximately 5 hectares with a greenhouse of 5000 m², an orangery of 2000 m², a garden of 3000 m² at the back with a pond and 40 000 m² of agricultural land.
  
  The purpose of this location is to create a socio cultural domain with place for agriculture, a co-working space with studios and offices, all kinds of workshops and events, an orchard, folk cuisine, exhibiting alternative forms of living, and much more. These activities include all kinds of relaxation and learning opportunities for young and old.
  
  Everything is aimed at raising awareness and offering an alternative for our contemporary consumer society.
  
  We strive for 'local self-sufficiency' in the broadest sense of the word.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We organize monthly events for the members, also weekly events like workshops yoga, tai chi, qiqong and all kind of other workshops and readings.
  Sometimes members rent our location for private events.
  
  We have volunteers and collaborators who have experience and knowledge within bio-agriculture.
  We hope to inspire people to become self-sufficient and learn how to create communities.
  
  Work-awayers will gain experience:
  * within bio-agriculture, which is promoted by the European Union.
  * management of events.
  * carpentry and decoration.

  This host is a registered charity in their country and is looking for volunteers to help with their project(s).

  Help

  Every member here works as a volunteer.
  We mainly look for people to help in the garden. Planting and harvesting fruits and veggies.
  We work from Monday untill Friday and in the weekend you are free to visit Ghent or wherever.
  Sometimes we also need help during events on evenings or in the weekend. If these are events for paying guests, then you are not allowed by workaway to help, only during events with a free contribution to our NPO.
  The total number of working days will not exceed five per week as it is demanded by workaway. So if we have events and need the help of the people who came through workaway, because of a lack of other volunteers, then we will compensate it during the working week.

  Accommodation

  We have an office with internet, showers, toilets, a kitchen, a library, a workshoproom, a co-working space, a big green house, a pound to swim, a nice and cosy area for people to chill and have a drink or something to eat.
  We have three beds inside in the sleeping area and also have space for tents or a camper, if you wish so.
  We provide breakfast, lunch and dinner which we make together.
  We have bikes at your disposal to visit Ghent or other places.
  There's also a trainstation nearby - 15-minute walk.

  We also have bikes for when you want to go to the shop or to visit Ghent or other places. We're not far from the train station and bus station.

  On our field there's space for campers or motorhomes. On that side of the plot we don't have electricity, nor water.

  We have three cats at Grondlegger. Dogs can't run free within the green house. Always take good care of your dog if you have one and clean up the feces :)
