    Description

I’m Mila, an artist and designer. This is the place where I live and work—a mix of art, nature, and tourism. It’s a space created to foster creativity, with a shed that I’m transforming into a material and creative workspace.

I’m vegetarian and I love animals. You’ll be sharing the place with my two dogs, Canelo and Pepa, as well as some other friendly dogs from the neighborhood.

The orchard is also a place for creative expression, and harvest time is one of the most beautiful moments of the year.

My place is perfect for relaxing, listening to the wind, connecting with the river, simply looking at the trees, or going for a walk. It is also home to fruit trees, a greenhouse, and an orchard. The orchard is actually an experimental syntropic orchard, so if you’re into growing veggies, you’ll love it!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I can share different forms of cultural exchange through art and daily life. I’m an artist and designer who works with space design, and I can share art techniques, especially sculpture, art installation, and working with natural fibers.

I also have knowledge about orchards, trees, and growing tomatoes, and I enjoy exchanging experiences around gardening and food. I’ve traveled to different countries and have lived in Australia and Denmark. I speak English and Danish.

I love cooking and learning new recipes, so sharing meals, food traditions, and conversations is an important part of the exchange for me.

  • Help

    Help

I’m looking for different kinds of help:

Helping in the orchard and greenhouse: keeping both areas weed-free, watering, general garden maintenance, and harvesting.

Helping with the trees: harvesting fruit, cooking or preserving some of it, and watering new trees that are growing.

Supporting improvements in the wood workspace, which includes moving things around, organizing, building shelves, relocating some heavy items, and storing chopped wood (heavy lifting will always be done together).

    General maintenance of the plot.

    Accommodation

The place is located about 32 km from Valdivia, the main city, in a quiet countryside area. Public transportation is available but limited to two services per day for traveling to and from the city. We can coordinate schedules to make it easier to access the city on days off.

I offer a safe and beautiful place to camp, with a tent for two people. All camping equipment and bedding will be provided, ensuring a clean and secure place to sleep. Volunteers will share the bathroom in my house, and meals can be enjoyed either inside the house or outside in the garden.

Three meals a day are provided. Fruit from the trees is available for everyone. Any additional snacks or drinks can be purchased by the volunteers themselves.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

This is a calm and peaceful place, ideal for people who enjoy nature and a slower rhythm of life. I’m very respectful of nature and its cycles, so loud music is not common or encouraged here.

During the hotter months, I prefer to work early in the morning and then again in the afternoon, once the heat has gone down.

On days off, I’m happy to recommend places to visit, nature spots, rivers, walks, and nearby towns. Transport options are limited, but we can try to coordinate in advance to make moving around the area easier when possible.
