Description
Our farm covers 120 hectares. Most of which is pristine veldt. We are situated at the foot of the Rooiberg mountains and the farm has wonderful hiking opportunities into the kloofs and mountains around us. We have abundant birdlife and wildlife as well as unique plants. Approximately 20 hectares of the farm is under cultivation. We have 1000 olive trees and a large healing garden as well as other fields and gardens. We are exploring what it means to farm veganically and our long term aim is to establish a sustainable vegan community. We provide sanctuary to 3 horses, 2 pigs, 2 dogs and lots of chickens.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in a pristine area. Clean air, clean water and vegan food as well as the pleasure that being in a natural environment brings are available. You will learn about veganic farming, animal care, bread making, vegan cooking, herbal remedies and alternative building.
Help
We offer an extremely wide array of opportunities to help, including but not limited to: working in the olive orchards, fruit orchards, and organic vegetable and herb gardens; processing olives and many other types of produce (pressing, pickling, preserving and drying); cooking; caring for our horse, pigs and chickens; maintenance; alternative building; irrigation; fencing; guiding hikers, making compost and help with our vegan accommodation.
We also volunteer with a small NGO that works with the local children, we pack lunches and play with them every Friday, volunteers are welcome to join, it's an amazing opportunity to give back and learn about the local community.Languages spoken

We have lovely single rooms and we have 3x3metre, furnished tents. All are separate from the main farm houses and offer privacy. Shared bathrooms and some meals will be self-catering and at least one meal a day will be a shared.
What else ...
We ask volunteers to contribute R500 per week to the farm. This covers all three of your meals a day, access to a fully stocked vegan kitchen, fresh bread and produce from the garden. It also covers transport to and from the bus stop.
While non vegans are welcome to visit, the farm is strictly vegan. This means that we are totally plant based and do not allow exceptions such as eggs, dairy, honey etc. to be stored, prepared or eaten in any of our facilities.
We are neo-animalists and believe in the principles of deep ecology. So, the animals on the farm are respected as equal members of our community as are all forms of life. We do not kill anyone and respect their right to be here. This includes snakes, spiders, mosquitoes etc. If they present a genuine threat, they get relocated, but no pesticides, insecticides or any other form of violence against the bio diverse life on the farm is acceptable. If you don't like animals, this is not the right place for you.A little more information

I liked it so much that I decided to stay for 6 weeks and I would always go back if I had the opportunity.
Everybody was very welcoming and the land is incredibly beautiful.
I enjoyed working on the field, doing baboon watch in the garden while painting or doing yoga. And I loved playing with the pigs.

The farm is an absolute sanctuary - the gorgeous surrounding mountains, Louise's garden oasis and just the serene atmosphere...
