    Description

Experience life on a durian farm in Balik Pulau, Penang, Malaysia.

Ours is a family of 3, running a durian farm with 2 permanent helpers. As such, there will be other people around while you are surrounded by beautiful lush greenery.

So what is a durian? It is a delectable sweet creamy fruit that most people have a love or hate relationship with. Most Malaysians love them! We also have other fruit trees so this is something you will get to try when you're here.

The farm can be pretty laid back and there will also be tasks to complete. We ask that you keep to the work schedule and some basic guidelines.

Malaysia is a humid and warm country so this something you need to get used to, along with the mosquitoes. All rooms are equipped with fans. Please arrive with what you need to weather the climate and the critters.

We provide 3 meals a day and ask that you eat what we eat. We are unable to cater for specific diets such as vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs. Our breakfasts can vary from eggs, bread, oats, biscuits, local staples and fruit, and we have coffee in the morning.

Lunch is noodles, often served with fresh juice from farm fruits along with local fruits. Dinner is rice with a variety of protein and vegetable dishes.

Btw, we have 7 dogs for company and if you are in luck, you may spot a few monkeys. We also have fish, monitor lizards and there are a wide variety of birds with gorgeous plumage that carry a wide ensemble of birdsong.

Penang is an amazing island with lots of culture and lovely beaches. We are also famous for the diversity of our tasty food. You will not run out of things to do here. The locals are friendly and helpful. You can get around by public transport or take a Grab, our local Uber.

Our farm is off the beaten path so you will need to walk a couple of km to get to the nearest village or you could get a ride to the bus stop.
