Description
Heyy! I’m Larissa, a 22-year-old university student from China, currently studying Sociology in Shanghai.
I’m an open-minded, curious and responsible person who enjoys learning about different cultures through real everyday experiences. I have travelled and studied in different parts of world, including an exchange semester in Taiwan, and I have also taken part in community research and volunteering projects in China and Kenya.
During a fieldwork project in Kenya, I helped conduct interviews and surveys in local schools and communities, organised information and contributed to an English research report. I have also volunteered with older adults, supported educational projects and coordinated volunteers at a large international technology conference.
I enjoy meaningful conversations, nature, hiking, photography, writing and learning how people live in different places. I am especially interested in community projects, education, environmental work, cultural exchange, wellbeing and social-impact initiatives.
Through Workaway, I hope to experience a place beyond ordinary tourism, contribute useful skills, learn from local people and become part of a warm and respectful community. I’m happy to help with practical daily tasks as well as communication, research, teaching, social media and creative projects, I'm also happy to share more things about my country!
I value clear communication, mutual respect and a healthy balance between helping, learning and personal time. Nice to meet you! -

More details about your skills
My main strengths are communication, research, organisation, education support and content creation.
I have experience teaching, conducting interviews and surveys, collecting and organising information, writing reports and communicating with people from different backgrounds. Through my sociology studies, I have learned about community work, group activities, basic needs assessment and respectful communication with different groups.
I can help with:
• Teaching or practising English and Mandarin
• Supporting children’s or youth activities
• Design new arts
• Help farm work
• Community outreach and educational projects
• Research, interviews, surveys and data organisation
• Writing, proofreading and basic translation between Chinese and English
• Event preparation and volunteer coordination
• Reception, guest communication and general administrative work
• Gardening, cleaning, organising spaces and other practical work
I am comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Docs, spreadsheets, Canva and basic photo-editing tools. I am also willing to learn unfamiliar practical skills when clear guidance is provided.
I am patient, observant and detail-oriented. I take responsibilities seriously and prefer to understand the expected result clearly before beginning a task. -

What else ...
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, photography, writing, reading, meditation, dancing, meeting different friends, visiting local neighbourhoods and having thoughtful conversations with people from different cultures. I also enjoy trying new outdoor activities and learning about local history, food and community life.
I am comfortable living simply, but I care about safety, cleanliness and respectful communication. I am happy to share meals and social time with hosts while also appreciating some personal time to rest, study or explore independently.
Before confirming a stay, I would like to understand the daily schedule, exact tasks, accommodation arrangements, transportation options and whether any additional costs are involved. I believe clear expectations help create a positive experience for both hosts and Workawayers. -
