Description
Hello!
We are a little family, consisting of a 10year old girl, a 6 year old girl, their mum, their dad. We like animals, right now we have a dog "Isla", 2 cats: "Ove" and "Juniper" 2 sheep : "Märta" and "Berit"
We live at the beautiful Kimito island in the Finnish archipelago. The island is however pretty big, and we don't live by the sea. But just a few kilometers away you can meet the archipelago! Our old house is located in the countryside surrounded by a big garden (that urgently needs help!!). By car or bus (only a few/day) it's a 10 minute long drive to the nearest village.
The mum is working full time as a reporter, and the dad works at sea and is away 1 week and at home 1 week.
The 10 year old can't wait to continue practising her English!
The Kimito Island is a quiet and small place, so if you look for nightlife and parties - this is not the place for you. This may be a good choice if you like nature, animals, spending time outside and want to participate in our everyday life!
Especially in the summer we like to make small trips in the area, visit Turku and Tammisaari and go to the beach - feel free to join us!Types of help and learning opportunities

We can teach you some Swedish (our mother tongue) or Finnish if you like! And you will be forced to learn how we live on the countryside...
In the summer we have a small garden where we grow tomatoes, pepper, cucumber, beans etc. Or at least we try to! :) We live close to he forrest where you can pick blueberries in the summer, lingonberries and mushrooms in the fall.Projects involving children

Help
Well, we are renovating the house (slooowly and gently, as it's i wooden house more than 100 years old...), so there is always something to do, like painting, removing old paint, cleaning out stuff in order to start a new room-renovating-project etc. No experience is needed, but we appreciate an open mind and a positive attitude.
So now we need some help with upcoming projects. For example: clear the attic from stuff (we need a clean slate to be able to start renovating there), painting some details on the house, gardening - such as cutting grass with lawn mover etc etc... Not any big projects - we just need a helping hand.
We appreciate if you have experience with kids and animals, and like to cook food. If you get along ok with the kids (usually there is no problem) we would be happy if you can babysit now and then. And helping with daily routines with the animals such as check if they have clean and right amount of water and food.
We prefer people who can work independently, who is self going (sees what needs to be done without anyone telling you...) and who is used to work practically.Languages

You will have a small room of your own on the second floor of our house. The rest of the family lives on the first floor. But we have only one toilet + shower in the house! This you have to share with the rest of the family, like the kitchen, tv-room etc.
What else ...
As mentioned above, Kimito island is a small place. No big shopping centers etc. But the nature is beautiful, and here is very quiet - and you get a good chance to rest your mind. The nearest town is Turku (one hour by car).
In the summer we often go to a nearby beach, and we like to barbeque in the garden.
Our yard is a non smoking area.A little more information

According to them it was the worst time of the year to go there ( because of the weather) but I had a lot of fun with them!
The work was simple: small painting projects, cleaning the house, helping with the girls in the Morning, etc...

From a Workawayer you usually get either a good friend or a good worker, but in Kate we got both. We had a lot of very interesting discussions - with Kate it felt that you could talk about anything. But we also got a lot of work done on the house. Kate is… read more

Me and Kathy had a really great time at Emilia's place. We stayed for two weeks, during our stay we spent 3 days in Turku for vacation. We were so glad that the day off is so flexible so that we could visit Turku before the storm and rain.
Emilia and Sebastian showed us the traditional… read more
