Enjoy the romance of helping tend our over-sized hobby vineyard, help restore our lovely stream, maintain a rambling house and swing in the hammock. Detox from the internet in our off-the-grid location (ie NO internet in this rural location). We're located between the boutique wineries of Martinborough and the dramatic coastline of Castlepoint. There's always something to do - tending, pruning, some machine work if you're comfortable and experienced with this, relaxing.
For Oct 2020 the task is removal of some old fences in preparation for stream restoration. Heavy but satisfying work...

We are both 6th generation New Zealanders, love Aotearoa/New Zealand and are keen to share our experience and history of this wonderful country. We're a middle aged couple, one of us is a superb cook, the other a doctor, both are musicians. Our place is a gathering point for friends, family, retreats and neighbours. We have traveled to many parts of the world, and enjoy welcoming people in return
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Ours is a 9 hectare rural property that we are slowly developing. There is opportunity for many skills - rural work, tending the vines, house maintenance.. Depending on the time of year we need help with pruning and tending the vines, picking the grapes, lawn moving, gardening, tree planting and household maintenance.
Accommodation is in our large, rambling and warm house. We have single and double rooms, two bathrooms, an inviting kitchen, and sofas in front of the fire.
We are 20 km from the boutique wineries of Martinborough, on the way to the dramatic east coast coastline, and on a popular 60 km cycling route. The climate is warmer and stiller than in the towns of Wairarapa and dramatically better than Wellington!
