Hi, I'm Kerry from New Zealand, 'yes' a Kiwi. I have joined Workaway to experience a more meaningful cultural exchange when travelling. Although I have lived and worked overseas for half my life visiting 50+ countries, these days I would much prefer to spend some time in a place, rather than being just another tourist passing through.

To date, I have had three fantastic Workaway experiences - 8 weeks in Portugal for the olive harvest, and two stays near Martinborough in New Zealand. Please read my reviews.

I was fortunate enough to retire early, so now travel whenever I can. I enjoy the outdoors, sports and keeping myself fit, but I enjoy nothing more than being around interesting people from all walks of life.

I initially trained as a teacher in NZ and then spent two years teaching English in China. From there I got into business, sports marketing and magazine publishing in Hong Kong, owning a share in a Japanese restaurant in Manila, to living and owning a factory in China for 15 years.

Apart from the above, past work experience would also include: general farm work / landscape maintenance, asparagus and apple picking, and native tree planting, I have worked in a plant nursery, on a Kiwifruit farm, and in a landscape / garden supply company. I have tractor and loader experience.

I consider myself a positive person, adaptable, goal orientated and very much a team player.

The world needs more Kerry's. I have enjoyed my stay with David and Helen on their lovely, peaceful property. I was made to feel very welcome. My accommodation was warm and comfortable.
