  • Description

We are an institution for young adulds with special needs. The way we are organized is rather special. Right now we are 2 different institutions that are both connected by our common life - we eat, produce, work, discuss and live together- like a big organism. We call it the social village. Here live all the "surplus adults" like volunteers, workaways, Interns and some of the staff members. The age varies from 1 year to 70 years and everything in between, so it is a bit like a village popluation - We are very international and often host between 5-10 different nationalities at a time. We try to integrate as many different people into the social village as possible in order to give a big variety of personalities to connect to for our students.

here a short overview about our 2 institutions and what they do:
    1. A care home for young adults, that present with massive emotional and social difficulties, often diagnosed with heavy psychological problems and/or eating disorders.
    2. Apartments and pedagogical support to young adults (age 18+ ) who present with emotional and social difficulties.

The Common life consist out of different program offered to the institutions, an Ice Cafe, and an industrial kitchen – which serves food to all the institutions and employees 7 days a week.

The workaway Hours will ALWAYS be within the pracical areas, such as:

    1. kitchen (cooking, dishwashing)
    2. Cleaning (floors, toilets, kitchen, common areas)
    3. maintenance (building, painting, construction etc.).
    4. Gardening (from spring to late autumn)
    5. Ice Cafe (Maj to September)

We expect the volunteers to be part of our community and as such to contribute to a lively and loving environment for the young adults in our institutions. It is important to be a good role model for them and to build up meaningful connections.

The Workaway hours are going to be in the practical areas (as desribed above), but we want the workaways to
participate and enjoy our common program and the program for the Institutions on your own time. Due to legal regulations this can only happen in your free time.
It is very important to us that you WANT to participate in and be a part of our community!!!

We are interestet in volunteers that stay 3 MONTH AND LONGER. As longer you stay as more we can involve you also with the young adults, since we want them to experience healthy relationships and as little change in adults as possible.
