Description
We are a family of three from Germany – Ute (54), Urs (55), Robin (22, who lives and studies in Germany and Anastasia (10, who is attending a small friskole here since August) – and have just moved to Denmark to fulfill our dream of living with animals and in nature. Melissa (30) from Switzerland has moved with us, but she won't be here on the farm until the end of the year.
We only need help for our non-profit permaculture and other projects and not for any business.
Living on the farm with us are eight horses, three cats, a small dog, and eight chickens. We own three Icelandic horses (23, 7, and 6 years old), Melissa has got two Connemara ponies (16 and 12 years old), and an Icelandic horse (16 years old) . Two Icelandic horses are boarded here (26 and approximately 17 years old). We would like to add more animals to our family over time. The farm is a former small horse stud farm that we want to transform into a permaculture farm with guest accommodation and a seminar center. It should become a place of encounter and interaction for people and animals – and a place where one can freely develop without having to perform. Everyone here is welcome to be themselves and contribute their abilities – whether human or animal. The animals should also simply be allowed to be here without having to perform or be of use to us. Perhaps with the exception of the fact that they provide us with good fertilizer for soil improvement... Guests should feel comfortable and slow down here. The animals help us to constantly return to the here and now... There is a lot of work for us and our helpers: The farm covers an area of 12.4 hectares, of which 7 hectares are pasture and 4 hectares are mixed woodland. Our first priority is to build humus by constructing a large composting facility, preparing liquid manure, and building a composting area with a new chicken coop for the chickens. A lot of old things are going to be torn down and new ones built. We want to plant lots of fruit trees and edible hedges.
The main house—it dates back to the 1930s—needs to be renovated first before we can move into the ground floor. Right now, we're living in the holiday apartment in the attic.
We're exploring many topics: self-sufficiency, mushroom cultivation, medicinal mushrooms, naturopathy, making natural cosmetics and remedies from forest and meadow materials, mindful animal husbandry, building with natural materials, yurt construction, tiny houses, composting toilets... We plan to implement many of these things here gradually.

Wir sind eine 3-köpfige Familie aus Deutschland - Ute 54 J., Urs 55 J., Robin (22, der in Deutschland lebt und studiert und Anastasia 10 J., die hier seit August eine kleine freie Schule besucht - und gerade eben nach Dänemark gezogen, um uns hier unseren Traum von einem Leben mit Tieren und in der Natur zu erfüllen. Mit uns hierher gezogen ist Melissa aus der Schweiz (30 Jahre), die aber bis zum Ende des Jahres nicht hier auf dem Hof sein wird.
Mit uns auf dem Hof leben 8 Pferde, 3 Katzen, ein kleiner Hund und 8 Hühner. Drei Island Pferde gehören uns (23, 7 und 6 Jahre), zwei Connemara Ponys (16 und 12 Jahre) und ein Isländer (16 Jahre) gehören Melissa und zwei Isländer sind Einsteller (26 Jahre und ca. 17 Jahre). Gerne sollen im Laufe der Zeit noch weitere Tiere dazukommen.
Der Hof ist ein ehemaliges kleines Pferdegestüt, den wir zu einer Permakulturfarm mit Gästeübernachtung und Seminarbetrieb umgestalten wollen. Es soll ein Ort der Begegnung und Interaktion für Menschen und Tiere werden - und ein Ort, an dem man sich frei enfalten kann ohne etwas darstellen zu müssen. Jeder darf hier so sein wie er ist und sich mit seinen Fähigkeiten einbringen - egal ob Mensch oder Tier. Die Tiere sollen hier auch einfach sein dürfen ohne etwas zu leisten oder uns nützlich zu sein. Vielleicht bis auf die Tatsache, dass sie uns guten Dünger für den Bodenaufbau liefern.... Die Gäste sollen sich hier wohlfühlen und entschleunigen. Die Tiere helfen uns dabei immer wieder ins hier und jetzt zu kommen....
Arbeit gibt es hier sehr viel für uns und unsere Helfer: Der Hof hat eine Fläche von 12,4 ha, wovon 7 ha Weidefläche und 4 ha Mischwald sind. Als erstes wollen wir Humusaufbau betreiben, indem wir eine große Kompostanlage bauen, Düngerjauchen ansetzen und einen Kompostierungsbereich mit einem neuen Hühnerstall für die Hühnern errichten. Es soll sehr viel Altes abgerissen und Neues gebaut werden. Wir wollen ganz viele Obstbäume und essbare Hecken pflanzen.
Das Haupthaus - es ist aus den 1930er Jahren - müssen wir zuerst renovieren, bevor wir dort ins Erdgeschoss einziehen können. Gerade eben wohnen wir in dem Ferienapartment im Dachgeschoss.
Wir beschäftigen uns mit vielen Themen: Selbstversorgung, Pilzzucht, Heilpilze, Naturheilkunde, Herstellung von Naturkosmetik und Naturheilmitteln aus Wald und Wiese, achtsamer Umgang mit den Tieren, Bauen mit Naturmaterialien, Jurtenbau, Tiny houses, Komposttoiletten.... Vieles wollen wir hier davon nach und nach umsetzen. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
As Germans living new in Denmark, we are currently facing the challenge of finding our way into a new culture and settling into a new home ourselves. All the more reason why we value cultural, practical, linguistic, and personal exchange!
Here, people from all across Europe – and perhaps soon even from all over the world? – come together to create a welcoming place where everyone can get involved, contribute, and get their hands dirty. Many different languages are spoken on the farm, and we actively encourage exchange between ourselves, our guests, and our neighbours.
We are very open minded people and like to eat together every day and take the time to plan the work in the morning and reflect on the day as well as talking about personal things. At the same time, everyone naturally has her/his own space to retreat to whenever some privacy is needed
Do you practice any special agricultural or craft techniques that you could teach us? Or can you turn our hopefully soon homegrown vegetables into a particularly delicious dish from your home country? -

Help
We are currently looking for helping hands to support us in transforming this former riding farm into a sustainable, self-sufficient permaculture farm.
There is a existing Bed&Breakfast with 6 rooms on the farm which we have do get running again but we do not help with that or around that from Workawayers.
We only need help with our non-profit projects like building, gardening, permaculture, small renovating projects and working with the horses therefore we cannot pay any money for that. We are at the very beginning of this project and there will be probably not many paying guests here in autumn and winter if there will be some at all.
At the moment, we need practical help with renovation, sorting, clearing and conversion work, as well as gardening , while we gradually build up our permaculture system. Although we are not a traditional riding farm, animals—and especially working with horses—play a central role here.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of their level of experience but craftsmen and women a very much welcome!!!! We need people with practical skills and experience in different trades, such as gardening, woodworking, metalwork, drywall, processing, or food craftsmanship. Also experience with horses is very much valued here as we have 8 horses here which need to be looked after and get trained to the level of their education.
Food and accommodation are, of course, provided by us. Having a car is a plus, but definitely not a requirement.

Wir suchen aktuell nach tatkräftiger Unterstützung, um diesen ehemaligen Reithof in einen nachhaltigen, autarken Permakulturhof zu verwandeln.
Auf dem Hof befindet sich bereits ein Bed & Breakfast mit sechs Zimmern, das wir wieder in Schwung bringen möchten. Dafür brauchen wir jedoch keine Unterstützung.
Wir benötigen ausschließlich Hilfe für unsere gemeinnützigen Projekte wie Bauen, Gartenarbeit, Permakultur, Renovierung und die Arbeit mit den Pferden. Daher können wir dafür kein Geld zahlen. Wir stehen noch ganz am Anfang dieses Projekts, und im Herbst und Winter werden wir voraussichtlich nur wenige zahlende Gäste haben, wenn überhaupt.
Momentan benötigen wir praktische Unterstützung bei Renovierungs-, Aufräum- und Umbauarbeiten sowie bei der Gartenarbeit, während wir unser Permakultursystem schrittweise aufbauen. Obwohl wir kein traditioneller Reithof sind, spielen Tiere – und insbesondere die Arbeit mit Pferden – hier eine zentrale Rolle.
Jeder ist willkommen, unabhängig von seiner Erfahrung. Handwerkerinnen und Handwerker sind uns besonders willkommen! Wir suchen Menschen mit praktischen Fähigkeiten und Erfahrung in verschiedenen Bereichen, wie Gartenarbeit, Holz-, Metall- und Trockenbau, Lebensmittelverarbeitung oder Lebensmittelhandwerk. Erfahrung mit Pferden ist ebenfalls sehr wichtig, da wir acht Pferde haben, die versorgt und entsprechend ihrer Ausbildung trainiert werden müssen.
Unterkunft und Verpflegung werden selbstverständlich gestellt. Ein Auto ist von Vorteil, aber keine Voraussetzung.
Wir lernen jeden Tag gemeinsam etwas Neues und würden uns freuen mit Euch wertvolle Erfahrungen zu sammeln und Neues auszuprobieren. Wir freuen uns über jeden, der sich hier kreativ und voller Tatkraft mit seinen eigenen Ideen einbringen möchte, um so aktiv an der Gestaltung des Hofes mitzuwirken! -

Ebenso erweitern wir gerne generell unseren Sprachhorizont und bringen unseren Helfern auch gerne Deutsch bei! -
Accommodation
Our volunteers are accommodated in single or double rooms (bunk beds) in our bed and breakfast area, which has two bathrooms. We provide at least one communal meal a day and supply food for the other meals. There is a shared kitchen with a living and dining area where volunteers can also prepare their own meals.

Unsere Helfer sind in Einbett- oder Doppelbettzimmern (Stockbetten) in unserem Bed&Breakfast Bereich untergebracht, in dem es zwei Badezimmer gibt. Wir bieten mindestens eine gemeinsame Mahlzeit am Tag und stellen das Essen für die anderen Mahlzeiten zu Verfügung. Es gibt eine Gemeinschaftsküche mit Wohn- und Eßbereich, wo man sich auch selbst versorgen kann. -
What else ...
We are a vegan-vegetarian household, so we do not serve meat or fish in our shared meals, but you can feel free to buy and prepare whatever food you like. There is a supermarket closeby, and we are happy to take you along to our shopping trips. We have bikes available, so you can move freely in the area. The wonderful and 35km long beach is only 800m as the crow flies away from the farm.
Wir sind eine vegetarische, überwiegend vegane Familie, so dass wir zu den gemeinsamen Essen nichts mit Fleisch oder Fisch zubereiten. Aber jeder kann für seine eigenen Mahlzeiten ganz frei sein. Es gibt einen kleinen Supermarkt in der Nähe und wir nehmen Euch gerne zu unseren Einkaufstouren mit. Wir haben Fahrräder zur freien Verfügung, damit Ihr die Gegend erkunden könnt. Der wunderschöne und 35 km lange Sandstrand ist nur 800 m Luftlinie entfernt. -

Eure Tiere, egal welcher Art sind alle herzlich willkommen, solange sie mit unseren Farm- und Haustieren klar kommen und auch freundlich zu allen Zweibeinern auf dem Hof sind!

Suomi is an Islandic horse and lives on the farm for some years now because of equine asthma which he had in Germany. Hereat the North Sea he has got no problems at all and enjoyes his retirement.
