    Description

Hi! I'm Pau. I’m an engineer and therapist, and I have spent many years travelling and living abroad, especially in Asia. I have lived in both India and China, and travelling and meeting people from different cultures has always been an important part of my life.

At the moment I am living in a community in the mountains outside Barcelona, but I also manage a large coliving house in Barcelona and I am looking for someone who would like to stay there long-term and help take care of the house.

The coliving is a very large house of more than 500 m² where around 8 people live. It has many different spaces, including a large 100 m² living room, an outdoor patio, coworking areas and several shared spaces.

The atmosphere is independent and relaxed. This opportunity would be particularly suitable for someone who wants to settle in Barcelona for a longer period rather than someone just passing through for a few days.

The collaboration would be around 10 hours per week, with quite a lot of flexibility regarding how those hours are organised.

Please only apply if you have previous practical experience with maintenance, repairs, construction, renovation or similar hands-on work.

This is important: I am specifically looking for someone who can work independently and is comfortable finding practical solutions when something needs to be repaired or improved. If you don't have this kind of experience, this probably isn't the right Workaway for you.

I am especially interested in people looking for a long-term stay.

This can be a good opportunity for someone who has been travelling for a while and would like to make a longer stop in Barcelona and have a stable place to stay.

Instead of spending many hours every day helping, the idea is to contribute around 10 hours per week, leaving you plenty of free time to work on your own projects, work remotely, study Spanish or Catalan, explore Barcelona or simply enjoy having a stable base for a while.

You will be sharing the house with people living in Barcelona and will have the chance to experience everyday life in the city rather than only visiting it as a tourist.

Barcelona also offers a great mix of culture, international people, nature and city life, and the house is located in the Vallcarca / Av. Tibidabo area, close to the hills of Collserola while still being well connected to the centre.

For the right person, I would like this to feel less like a short volunteer stay and more like having a temporary home in Barcelona while contributing to the place you live in.

  • Help

    Help

The main reason I am looking for someone is to help with maintenance of the house, so practical skills and previous experience are important.

    Tasks can include:

    Painting and basic renovation work
    Small repairs around the house
    Basic DIY and maintenance
Fixing or assembling furniture and other things around the house
Keeping some common areas clean and organised
Helping identify things that need repairing or improving
Occasionally helping with practical management of the house

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have your own private bedroom, as well as access to a private living room and private bathroom.
The house itself is very spacious, with more than 500 m² and plenty of common areas, including a large living room, patio and coworking space. Around 8 people live in the house, so you will have the opportunity to meet other people while still having plenty of your own private space. Utilities and household expenses are shared between the people living in the house.

As with everyone else living in the house, you will contribute towards the monthly household expenses, such as electricity, water, gas and internet. These are normally around €50 per month, depending on actual consumption.

As this is intended as a long-term stay, a one-month refundable security deposit is also required. The deposit is returned at the end of the stay, provided there are no damages or outstanding shared expenses.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Travellers will experience daily life in a relaxed coastal town near Barcelona, with the chance to connect with the local culture in a natural way.
We can share languages, perspectives and experiences, and I’m always open to exchanging ideas and learning from each other.
It’s a simple, real-life cultural exchange, more about living together, sharing routines and discovering the area than a structured program.
