Description
My name is Alison, I am an artist and dancer from Wales- who has been living on the beautiful island of La Palma for the past 20 years, where I also run a small English and dance academy in the nearby town where I host oriental and ecstatic dance classes. My home is an off-grid eco house on a bio banana finca, perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the spectacular 'Caldera de Taburiente National Park'. With pristine protected skies, spring water and run entirely on solar energy. Although it’s not officially an animal sanctuary, more than 20 rescued animals live here- mostly volcano rescues, and the place and its visitors help support this fluffy community. Access is by a dry riverbed and a steep footpath (about 10–15 minutes hike from the nearest car park), so only suitable for those with an active level of fitness who don't mind carrying supplies (supplies can be delivered by jeep- but its not always available). From the finca you can hike directly into the National Park and we love sharing this very special place with our visitors. 🌿✨

Help
*URGENT HELP NEEDED* IMMEDIATE START. We really need a magical Elven helper to jump on board asap! :)
About the place & expectations
- A peaceful, safe and beautiful retreat in the heart of nature where people can reconnect with the Earth, rescued animals and each other.
- This is a SOBER space: NO alcohol, smoking or drugs are allowed, for everyone’s health and safety. IMPORTANT
- We are a vegetarian homestead, so this diet is preferred (though not strictly mandatory). We hope to inspire an ethical and ecological way of eating. Food is not included which is reflected in the time asked for help.
- Life here is simple and shared. We work together to care for the house, gardens, animals and living spaces. You will have your daily duties, but we encourage a community spirit where we help each other out to ensure tasks are done not only well, but with great care and beauty.
- If you mainly want to explore the island, this may not be the right place, as access to the finca requires a walk and the lifestyle here is quite involved. However, if you value community living, animal cuddles and the off-grid experience, this place will be your paradise. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore the island in your free time.
- Days can vary, so it helps if you are flexible and happy to go with the flow.
- We enjoy welcoming friendly, sociable people who love nature, animals and community life. A good working rhythm and attention to detail are important. Sometimes things move quickly to get jobs done, while at other times the pace is relaxed.
- You will have one of the glamping single beds in the beautiful garden- these are our most popular sleeping spaces. We share an outdoor kitchen with a hot outdoor shower under the stars and compost toilets. Due to limited solar electricity we share a communal fridge and do not use large electrical appliances. (so no hair dryers or electric bikes please!- you can pay to charge a bike battery in the town studio though if you do travel with an e-bike)
CURRENT OFFER:
- We mainly currently need help caring for and watering the tropical ecological garden
- We also need love and attention and help with our 30+ rescued animals including dogs, cats, chickens and a turtle
- We need help building a new chicken run/palace
-Our very cheeky 10 year old dog MR Sunday needs some walks as he's a lazy boy! He has a huge fan club and people returning to visit him specially and paying the mandatory 'Cheese tax'. We also have a 17 year old mostly blind dog- Woolly- who needs lot's of cuddles and a short guided walk around the farm.
- Help with putting content on our Instagram & Facebook and with our new animal fundraising -

I mainly taught English in Alison's school, but also did a few things around the grounds.
Alison taught me how to drive the 4x4 up and down those hills, and since I love driving, it was a nice thing to learn :)
