Kim and Peter are a married couple who live on a ranch in Sax Alicante. The home is a large bungalow surrounded by mountains. Kim’s mother also lives at the property in her own little annex at the end of the building. It’s a beautiful place to live. Kim and Peter have 4 horses, 4 donkeys, 4 dogs and 3 cats who took up residence in the barn. Most of the animals were rescued. We have paddocks, 4 stables, riding arena and round pen. We need help to structure our gardens with weeding and a landscaping. There is the usual ranch duties on a daily basis with fence repairs, paddock cleaning. There are some lovely walking tracks all around the mountains. Dog walks are part of the daily routine also. The sun is always shining and we have a pool, jacuzzi sun terraces.

Sax town has a medieval castle which is open most of the year for visitors. The town is historical with the old town increasing winding cobbled streets with old houses and shops with a church at the top. The are many Spanish festivals through the year and The Three Kings parade is spectacular. During the summer months there may be music bands in the parks with food and drinks.

Sax has many cafes and restaurants with shops and supermarkets all within walking distance of each other. It’s a mixed population with Spanish, English, French, German, Belgian not to mention them all. The people always welcoming and friendly. There is a train station close by and local buses. Sax town is approximately 25mins walk from the ranch, the train station about 15mins. Kim or Pete go to town regular and are happy to give a lift there. There is near by Elda, Elche, Villena and other bigger towns.

    Help

We need gardening help, there will be lots of weeding, planting and sweeping patios. There will be rock collecting from field and paddocks and these are used as decorative edging in the gardens and riding arena. There will be paddock cleaning and general ranch cleaning duties. For the interested visitors there can be horse riding and animal grooming, petting. Dog walking in the mountains. Housework duties. I can teach general stable duties and how to care for horses but experience is required to ride the horses. I do have an instructor for those who wish to learn to ride and she can be booked with notice. The visitor will take part in cooking of the meals on a rotating rota, will participate in house duties, must be good with animals and happy to provide company sometimes to my mother.
