  • More details about your skills

I've had lots of opportunities to develop a variety of skills. I'm happy working outdoors and in. I have a lot of energy and I am a healthy and fit non-smoker.

For five years I lived and worked on a farm where we harvested grass hay for horse feed and boarded horses. I cleaned stalls, groomed and cared for 6 horses, including some veterinary care. I'm reasonably capable with horses.
I built from bare ground and cultivated a giant organic food and flower garden (mostly from seeds started in a greenhouse and complete with a chicken tractor https://modernfarmer.com/2016/08/chicken-tractor/, which I built myself, and a flock of 14 hens raised from chicks). I've taken (and taught) coursework in organic urban farming, including permaculture, biointensive, and biodynamic methods, and worked as an adjunct instructor teaching Urban Farming at the University of Oregon https://blogs.uoregon.edu/urbanfarm/2011/02/01/the-urban-farm-as-a-class/

I understand animals, plants and children. I have worked as a social worker, a kindergarten teacher, a high school teacher, an adult basic education teacher, a university adjunct professor in Early Childhood Education, a school principal/superintendent, and a non-profit executive director.

I've also lived in the high mountain desert in the American Southwest on the Diné (Navajo) Reservation in Arizona for three years - for nine months of that time I lived in a tent without running water or electricity and worked to build a tiny house with my partner (whilst also teaching public school full-time and attending graduate school part-time). Ask me about the time the two of us installed a massive picture window on the second story. And living in a tent at 1,899 meters (6,230 feet) in late October. It snows.

I can swing a hammer, run most power tools, and listen and follow directions like a championship amateur laborer.
I've also worked as a baker and a barista, a front-end restaurant manager, a driver, and a housekeeper.

For fun and recreation I love anything in, on, or around water. I'm an avid stand-up paddle-boarder, swimmer, hiker, and nature lover.

I look forward to connecting with you!
