    Description

Hi, my name is Terri. I’m a 38 yr old female. I live with my 41 yr old husband:Ryan and our two young children, Leo (4.5 yrs) and Summer (3 yrs old). We live in our own big and beautiful home in Coolum Beach. I am a Nurse in the Emergency Department and Ryan owns and works in his waterproofing business. We are searching for friendly, happy, fun, responsible, kind, humble and flexible work awayer’s! I have a good friend in Melbourne who highly recommended I use workaway. And after hosting our first two work awayers (a German lady who extended her stay to 5 weeks and a beautiful Italian girl for 5 weeks) it has not disappointed. We have all loved sharing our lives with someone new. It’s a less stressful household having another adult to share the load with. We’ve cooked and shared so many beautiful meals together, my love language is definitely food!

We are searching for an extra set of hands. But not just anyone. We want someone who has initiative, will enjoy living with toddlers (sometimes loud but beautiful) and be able to contribute to running a happy and efficient household.

We are also super encouraging for our work awayer’s to explore the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast and other states of Australia on their days off. We are more than happy to share our knowledge and assist you in planning your little day trips and adventures.

Please note you must be fluent in English (especially important for communicating with toddlers) and have a valid drivers licence. As well as being confident driving on the left hand side of the road.

The kinds of tasks this chosen person would be doing 5 days per week (5 hours a day) would be:
-Helping with the morning/evening routines with the kids if I am working. I work shift work and a changing fortnightly roster. I work 6 shifts per fortnight plus 1 day a fortnight doing online modules. My shift work sees me working weekends and night shifts. So there could be the odd weekend where Ryan is working and I need you to work which means I would give you an extra day off during the week. My roster is complete about two months in advance so I can be very transparent enabling you to plan your days off.
-driving kids to/from daycare (they attend three times per week-Tuesday, Wed & Fri)
-Driving Leo to and from therapy sessions (he has two sessions per week for his developmental delays).
-cleaning weekly to help me keep on top of the house. This could look like 3 hours per week which would include sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning kitchen, toilets/bathrooms
-helping to day day tidiness of the house- dishes, washing ect
    -gardening/plant care
As also ask that you flexible, as am I. If some weeks Ryan and I are working a day that the kids aren’t in daycare, I would hope that you’d be ok with doing a 10 hour day in exchange for an extra day off. We have done this with our first two work awayers and it’s not been a problem. I’ve also been more than fair with giving an extra day off to have an extended weekend away somewhere (example being, current work awayer told me she was going to Byron for the weekend. I told her to stay an extra day as I had days off so didn’t need her).

Leo and Summer are very loving, kind and empathetic kids (if I must say so myself!). They love their scooters and playgrounds. We’d love you to take the kids to skate parks and playgrounds when able. The kids love to help with cooking, baking and unloading the dishwasher. They enjoy swimming in our pool and playing at the beach. Summer enjoys the ocean more than Leo.

The right person would have a bedroom and bathroom to themselves on the bottom level of the 3 level house. You would have a spare car to use majority of the time. We have a pool you could use and a communal kitchen/living area.

Ryan and I generally go to bed relatively early so you’d have the lounge to yourselves some nights. We don’t let the kids watch much TV at all, never in the mornings. More so a movie if it’s a rainy day or occasionally Leo watches something (generally a Daddy/Leo time. Not something Mummy allows haha). Leo loves a screen and we’ve found when it is on, he zones out of other learning opportunities hence we limit the use of screens. We actually went two months last year with no TV!

We are a super friendly and kind family. Ryan and I have travelled a lot so sitting around the dinner table having a meal and exchanging travel stories is something we can offer.

If you think you’re suited to join our family, send a msg. We would prefer our work awayer’s stay for a minimum of 5 weeks. But if you are only available for a shorter time, send a message because it could still work out. And if we find that you’re a good fit and you too are happy, we could extend your stay. Look forward to hearing from you :)

We are an Aussie family. My partner and I love to travel and have made many memories and friends worldwide, particularly pre kids. We also travelled Asia for 7 months in 2023 with our two little ones, at the time they were 1yrs and 2.5 yrs! We’re super friendly and love a chat! We’d be open to providing local advice so you get the best out of your Sunshine Coast stay. We love cooking. Happy to teach you how to use the charcoal bbq which delivers the most smoky flavoured meat. Our home is only a 3 minute drive to beach or 15 min walk, you would have plenty of free time to get to the beach for some solo time.

Coolum beach is located only 25 minutes from the iconic Noosa. If you’re into hikes and keeping fit, Mt Coolum is only an 8 minute drive from our home and the Noosa National Park isn’t far either. You could use our spare car when we don’t need it. This would be helpful getting to Noosa ect. You will be added to our car insurance. All we ask is that if you take the car for longer trips in your free time, you put some fuel in. The days you use the car with the kids, obviously all fuel will be paid for.
